Magnavox TB100MW9 DTV Box Code

Post by mogulman »

Ok.. I'm back after a long hiatus...

Got a new device using one of those Government issued Coupons.. A Magnavox TB100WM9 DTV to Analog Converter Box from Walmart ($10 after coupon)... It comes with a remote, but it doesn't control Power/volume/mute on a TV (Lame)...

Anyone know if there is a code that works with this thing? I don't have a learning remote right now, so I can't learn the codes.... I may end up returning the box and getting a different model that comes with a TV controllable remote, if I can't find a code. I have plenty of JP1 remotes though. I just need a code.

BTW.. This box is made by Funai if that helps.

Wal Mart DTV boxes

Post by kirbo »

Im sort of in the same boat. I have the maggotbox DTV from Wal Mart, and I must use an RF remote. I have a couple of old RS 15-1995 RF remotes that work fine, but they do not learn. I also have an RCA learning remote made by One For All with the JP1 connector which is not RF. I wonder if it would be possible to learn the channel up and down codes from the DTV box into the RCA, USE JP1 software to save them, then program them into the 15-1995.

Before you offer the simple solution, the 9910, the reason I am in this predicament is that my 9910 died and I have hot been able to find a replacement.

It has been many years since I have fooled around with JP1 programming, but if the crowd here thinks it will work, I'll do it and publish the codes. This could be handy since Wally World is selling millions of these little DTV boxes.

The 15-1995 is a learning remote. Is the learning function on your 15-1995 broken?

It is definitely possbile to learn signals on one JP1 remote model, decode them and create an upgrade that can then be used on a different JP1 remote model. That's what makes sharing device upgrades possible.

If you don't remember how, see JP1 - Just How Easy Is It?

15-1995 learning function.

Hey Thanks. I have had these 15-1995s for several years and didn't remember anything about them being learners, as it isn't mentioned anywhere in the user's guide. There must be a JP1 how-to somewhere, could someone point me to it?

Thanks again

Sorry, I was wrong. The 15-1995 doesn't have learning. The RCA RCU-810 does. But it doesn't have a built-in JP1 connector, so you would need to add one to it (unless you did that in your earlier foray in the world of JP1)

The correct learning procedure

Also, the link I gave you before gives an overview of converting learned signals to a device upgrade.

RCA

Yeah, you now see my problem, right? The RCA is not RF. And there is a surveillance camera server is in the other end of the house. I use RF to switch between cameras. I know it is a typical geek problem, wanting to control everything from one remote. :-)

But you state in your first post that your RCU-810 is modified with the JP1 connector, so it is trivial (OK, maybe not TRIVIAL, but certainly straight forward if you follow the guide linked above) to learn the signals to your RCU-810, download and decode them in IR.exe, and build an upgrade for ANY remote, including your 1995, in either KM or RM.

What I'm not sure that I understand is why do you claim you "need" RF? Are you using an RF-IR extender that repeats the IR code at a remote location? or is your surveillance camera switcher organically RF? If the latter, your 1995 won't transmit THAT RF signal. It will only transmit an RF encoding of an IR signal that has to be converted back into IR at the other end. If the camera switcher is indeed IR, but simply at a distance, then the 1995 is in fact what you would need (of the 2 remotes you have to choose from).

RCA and 15-1995

Post by kirbo »

Yes, the RCA has a JP1 connector, so you are correct that it is simply learning the DTV buttons to the RCA, then upgrading my 15-1995, like I suggested initially. Thanks.

Now, for what it is worth, the camera switcher is operated by IR via the RF reciever which works with all the Radio Shack and OFA Rf Remotes.

So to make a boring story even longer, right now, I am switching the cameras with the 1995, and changing the DTV box channels with the RCA.

I haven't seen my old JP1 cable in several years, so it is not something I can do without some digging.

Magnavox TB100MW9

Hi all, I recently created a device file for the Magnavox TB100MW9, which can be downloaded here: https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=5653.
