URC-7556 (OFA 5 Digital) not in KM available? What now?

Post by sretlow »

I want to use Keymap Master to assign some keys to other functions in my URC-7556 device. But this remote is not present in the drop-down list of remotes in KM 9.14. What can I do to make thi s remote available in KM?

If KM doesn't support it, you should give RM a try. All you need is the RDF, JPG and MAP file for it, which are available here

I want to. The 7556 is supported by RM but I cant get the right files for my remotes for RM. After a long search I did get the KM file for my Dreambox, Plasma LG TV , Yamaha DVD and Yamaha receiver. So I can't get all these files for RM... Or can I transfer KM (txt) files to RM ones?

RM can read KM files. See the ReadMe and JP1 - Just How Easy Is It for RM Users?

Bottom line, RM can open almost all KM files, and if you find a KM file that it can't open, we'll fix it.

It is giving a warning that the KM file is for another remote and I have to reassign some buttons. I will try. I will get back to you when it is not working. Thanx in advance.

Sounds reasonable as there are not many URC7556 users yet compared to the many other models. The underlying button codes are the same for each remote. Even if the upgrade had been created on a 7556 you might still want to assign the buttons differently to suit yourself.

A tad defeatist, but I' sure that help will be there if you need it.

There are likely TWO separate warnings that you may be receiving:
(1) A warning when you attempt to OPEN the KM file in RM asking you to pick the remote that this file is for. This sometimes occurs when remote names in the various software may undergo slight changes. Just pick any one of the remotes and you'll be fine.
(2) Afterwards, when you try to CHANGE the remote to YOUR remote, it may give you a warning that some functions are assigned to buttons, but NOW will have no button assignment. No biggie, just click OK. You will have to go to the Buttons sheet anyways to assign the functions as you desire. That's the beauty of JP1. You have complete control over the upgrade!
