Underscores vs. spaces in RDF file names
There was another thread very recently in which the problem with underscores in rdf filenames was pointed out. I didn't notice that the "corrected" rdf's linked by Binky several posts back still used underscores incorrectly. Sorry to not point that out earlier, since I was pretty certain that underscores were the source of your problem, but didn't bother stating it outright. My bad.

I've noticed before that when I download RDFs directly from the file section (rather than as part of the zip file), the spaces get replaced with underscores. I usually use IE, so this could well be an IE thing, especially if it doesn't happen with Firefox.binky123 wrote:What program is replacing the spaces with underscores? Is it the browser? I'm using Firefox and I don't see the underscores in the files I posted. I downloaded the RDFs zip file version 1.27 and it does have underscores in quite a few filenames.

Actually, at least in the case of the Atlas RDF's, the filenames seem to have been uploaded with the underscores so I don't think it's an IE download problem. The Robman wrote:I've noticed before that when I download RDFs directly from the file section (rather than as part of the zip file), the spaces get replaced with underscores.
30003000 (Atlas 5 PVR with Day) JP1.3:
30003000_(Atlas_5-device_PVR_Day_3000_JP1.3).rdf
30333033 (Atlas 5 PVR with Day) JP1.3:
30333033_(Atlas_5-device_PVR_Day_3033_JP1.3).rdf
There seems to be several more filenames with underscores as well. Could it be a function of the file section uploading routines replacing spaces with underscores?
Would it make sense to have IR and RM modified to replace the underscores with spaces?

Try loading them up as individual files without the underscores and then try re-downloading them to see if the filenames change.

I suspect that that's not a universal solution, since the underscores DO serve a purpose in some rdf's to distinguish between different remotes that share the same rdf, like the 8901 family and the 8811 family.Mark Pierson wrote: Would it make sense to have IR and RM modified to replace the underscores with spaces?

Yeah... I had forgotten that minor detail until after I posted.Capn Trips wrote:I suspect that that's not a universal solution, since the underscores DO serve a purpose in some rdf's
Since it appears to be in the upload function of the File Section, maybe it can be addressed there. I'm not sure how much access Rob has to the underlying code but it's probably worth a shot.

I am on vacation, I'm in sunny Oakland, CA (San Francisco) as we speak. Fortunately, my sister-in-law has a wi-fi-network, so I'm able to get online from my laptop.Mark Pierson wrote:Knowing that Rob is (supposed to be) on vacation this week, I've posted a message on the support forum for the File Section software to see if this behaviour can be modified.

At that particular moment they had both gone out shopping, so I had some free time!
