In the instructions of the extender it say that when you load it (The menu system (definitely gone, not to return) What does this mean? Thanks Stephen

If you didn't have JP1 you would buy the remote, read the user manual and use the menus supplied with the original remote to program it as described in the manual. When you install the extender, these menus are no longer available. Not a big loss, since you can do all that, and more, with JP1. Just don't expect them menus to still be there.

They will return if you restore an original, not extended, file using ir.exe. You did save it before you started changing things, right?

They will also return if you deactivate the extender, which you can do by:
(1) removing a battery;
(2) pressing any button momentarily;
(3) re-installing the battery.

(but it won't do you much good aside from if you want to completely reset the remote to factory settings, since the extender stores information in different locations than the unextended remote will generally know what to do with.)
