Why can't the URC-6800 Deal with replatv arrows?

Post by reapur »

Hi,
I used keymap-master to create a device key for replay. Actually Used Rob's (?) file.
This works great on my RS 15-1994.
When I modify KM to use the URC6800 device, it seems this remote can't use the arrow keys anymore.
It does work to press "setup" EFC, for example "Setup" 168 moves the arrow up. But when I try to map it to the up arrow on that remote it won't work. I can't even get it to learn.
This goes for all the arrow keys.

Is this a known problem? or did I miss something?

regards

Do the arrow buttons work for your other devices? (ie, I'm trying to tell if the buttons themselves are worn out).

Do you have any old learned signals still on those buttons? With older remotes like the URC-6800, you can't mix learned signals with upgrades that require a protocol upgrade.

If that's still not enough for you to fix the problem, post a copy of your IR file and we'll see if we can see what's wrong.

Hi Rob,
As for the arrow keys, they seem to be OK when I use the TV or CD device keys.
When I clear the DVD device (where I put the replaytv) they seem to work (as in they light up when I press them)
When the device key is configured for replaytv, what happens is that when I press them, they blink on once, extremely dim. Very wierd.

To clear the remote I did the "setup" 981. Is that the correct way to clear this remote?

Thanks

Hi Rob,
Yeah, I was going to paste it but I wanted to follow your first set of suggestions. Then I remembered to look at the learned tab in IR and sure enough there are learned signals.

I've been searching the web to figure out how to reset this remote to a blank or factory state, but I can't find the code.

I thought they'd list it in the manual http://www.ofausa.com/arc_manuals/6800MAN.PDF but no luck.

know the trick?

cheers

You could just delete the learned codes from the Learned signals tab in IR.

Instructions for reseting a remote are at https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=3

Thanks guys,
It was the learned signals. I had missed them the first time around I assumed P981 would do it.
I finally got it cleared but I did P980 first and then P981 and I got the 4 blinks.

Cheers
