URC-8040 in the UK

Post by AliSmith »

Hi,

I'm in the UK, where I've bought a Kameleon 8040, which I now want to mod to drive the devices I have. I've been browsing through the forums here, and feel I could take on the job of sorting out the copdes etc, but I need to hardware to do it. I was wondereing where I can get a pogo-pin adaptor for my URC, which only has the bare 6 pads. And the interface cable might also be useful if I can buy one over here. Everything I've seen in the discussions seems to be US-based .

Anyone in the UK got similar problems :?

Both of the JP1 vendors ship to the UK, so that's where all the other UK JP1-ers have got their stuff. Either that or they've made them themselves.

Those links are dead now. I'm looking at buying one of these as they are now dead cheap at Richersounds £14.99 but want to make sure I can JP1 enable it. Any new links or suppliers?

Umm... I suggest looking in the marketplace section or at any of the banner ads on every page of these fora.

It's true, both of those vendors have retired from the JP1 business, here are the two current vendors:

I purchased an 8040 for our kitchen, but unlike the 8060, it doesn't have the holes in the JP1 bit, for the pogo adapter - I guess some pins would need soldering, or a better system of getting the batteries and JP1 cable held steady would be needed.

I gave up trying, and did it all by hand - but it is not as good that way, as the device keys can't be programmed amongst other things.
