I just upgraded from my beloved dishplayer due to Isabel. Any suggestions/recs for the 1994? Thanks,

Capn, I edited your links to make them work. Just FYI, the long URLs that Yahoo uses are temporary and don't always work. If you want to cut & paste a link from the file section into a message, you need to first copy the folder URL from the header before you click on the file, and then append the file name.
For example, if you are looking at a file called PVR501.txt in the "PVR" folder, you would first copy the folder name, which is...
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... Codes/PVR/
Then you would tack the file name (ie, PVR501.txt ) onto the end.

Thanks. I also just found the pdf that shows the rcvr has an IR sensor. My coworker wasn't sure since his remote is RF. http://www.dishnetwork.com/downloads/pd ... apter2.pdf

The OEM remote for the 501 is a dual IR/RF remote. I have not heard of an RF-only remote for this box, although Dish Network's Dual-Tuner boxes (both SC and HD) use RF-only to control the second tuner, which is a PITA for JP1-ing, which is IR-only.
