RDF compatibility with RMIR

Post by eferz »

I noticed on this thread (https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... 1659#p91659) that RMIR wasn't able to open a particular remote. So, I checked the complete list of remotes and found that the following remotes wouldn't open in RMIR 2.0-preview7.

I started going down the list, and it would appear that an empty fixed data section is one of the problems going on here.

Atlas OCAP URC-1056 JP1.3 (Black) extender (3A333A33)
Atlas OCAP URC-1056 JP1.3 (Silver) extender (3A333A33)

For some reason the F1 and F2 buttons are being parsed as hex.

This makes me wonder what is going to happen on the remotes where the keycodes are expressed in decimal instead of hex.

Those Atlas 3Axx extender RDFs are out of date. The latest version of the extender has updated them with a version 2.10 in the filename (and presumably some internal fixes). Back some time ago there was a thread in which I pointed out to xnapppo that they should be updated in the RDF distro, but he was waiting for Bill (unclemiltie - the extender writer) to give him some sort of "high sign" before doing so. These may not be perfect either, since I do not know if they have been run through Vicky's checker, but they work in RMIR for me so far.

I was able to use
Slingbox with UEI RV Chip (BINRV)
just fine. So don't know what is going on there.

I've fixed the bug that was preventing RMIR from opening an RDF with an empty fixed data section. That will be in the next preview.

Here's part of the discussion about Atlas JP 1.3 extender RDF's. Note that even then, the filenames for the latest RDFs were different (included the Extender version number), so the RDF's included in the distro are definitely out of date and should as a minimum be purged. I would further suggest updating the RDF distro with the latest ones in the Extender zip, but that's up to xnappo.

In fact, it was suggested by xnappo himself here.

Err, I thought I HAD gotten the latest extender RDFs at least for the 1056 in there?

I do have permission from Bill to publish all of these in the distro.

These RDFs are a pain because older versions of the extender do not work with the latest RDF. I am *only* going to have RDFs for the latest version of any extender.

I will do some checking Sunday or Monday (going out of town..)

I just downloaded your RDFs that you referenced from this thread (https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12559). It now imports fine in RMIR. However, if I use the original file from the distribution, I get the following error:

EDIT: I figured it out, it was missing "EepromSize=$800" not sure how it happend. I must have deleted it since the 1.3 RDF distribution has it in the orginal file.
