Being the only person who uses a computer doesn't tell us whether you are running with admin rights.

OK, I had assumed with Vista that at least one user had have admin rights otherwise you couldn't do anything. And I am the only defined user.....

What have I missed this time ?

At this point I am more interested in having you try the update I made to Setup.vbs after I asked if you were running with Admin rights.

If that does't work, we continue looking into the Admin rights.

All Vista and Win7 systems have a hidden admin account. Even though you are the only user on your PC, you are not the administrator.

To activate the admin account:
1. Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt (right click and select "Run as Administrator"
2. Type: net user administrator /active:yes

Then next time you log onto the machine, you'll be able to chose between 2 users, yourself and the admin.

Here are some tips for enabling the admin account:

You might be able to right-click on Setup.vbs and select "Run as Administrator" as well. I'm still on XP, so I'm not sure.

Sorry, too many posts coming in too fast. I missed your message on the updated Setup.vbs, but the link you supplied takes me to the Upload page. Doesn't look as though you completed the upload.

The right-clicking trick only works for EXE files, not JAR or VBS

Line: 18
Char: 5
Error: Invalid root in registry key "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\RMRDevicUpgrade"
Code: 80070005
Source: WShaell.RegWrite.

Could this be because I already have RemoteMaster installed (using the EXE one) in another folder ?

I doubt it, but you could uninstall it and retry. Time to log in as admin and try again

OK, Doing all the admin bit made Setup.vbs work OK. But surely we aren't expecting the average 'joe' to go through all that ?

Didn't help much though. Running the JAR gave me the 'Could not find the Main class' error.

Don't run the jar. Use the start menu shortcuts

I thought I said this wouldn't fix the file association.
