I have a urc-8820 b00
I am trying to make an upgrade of the vrc-1100 media center remote.
I have tried the rm and km upgrades posted on site using both programs, and used the various how to files.
Both give me upgrade protocol not sported by this remote when i change it to my remote type. I am not sure what to make this. The various how to dont seem to talk much about this or im just not reading the right ones. Awful lot of fuss for a one time thing, but it has been fun and learning alot.
I have tried leaving it as is.
Tried with the upgrade as is and changing it to my remote.
Tried my remote but the protocol is wrong so tried a whole bunch of variants.
Without a protocol i cannot get the code to lock in.
With the wrong protocol it locks in but a press causes the light to come and the remote locks up till i remove the batteries.
Recommendations?
Can you point me to a proper upgrade?
Thanks

Apparently, the uppgrade that you are using uses a protocol that has not been replicated for the processor that your remote uses. Provide a link to the upgrade that you are attempting to use, and one of the experts will be able to take a look and try to write the protocol that is required.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

I found this thread dealing with the remote im trying to replace and it has links to the files.

These are the upgrades i was attempting.
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=6526
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=6543
I also searched the site for other vrc-1100 files and all seem to be similar.
All say Upgrade protocol 0 = 01 FF (HCS08) OrekMCE (PB v4.00) not compatible with your remote. Or something similar dependent on witch program etc i try.
I have been able to input code 1272 for standard media center but it does not work on the unit. I used the original remote and learned pause and play on 1272 and got it to work. I dont have enough memory to learn all the buttons so i was trying to make an upgrade.
Am i not inputting it correct or is this upgrade just not compatible with my 8820? What do i need to do to convert it to my unit?
????
Thank You

My,
Vicky just gave you the protocol to use.
Substitute THAT in for the one that your current upgrade has.
(1) Open the upgrade in RM.
(2) Copy and paste Vicky's protocol upgrade into the Notes section on the "SETUP" Tab.
(3) Go to Advanced>Manual Settings...
(4) Click on "Import Protocol Upgrade"
(5) You should see the HCS08 field populate with that upgrade...
(6) Click "OK"
(7) Change the remote to URC-8820
(8) Assign the buttons as you wish
(9) Copy and paste BOTH the protocol upgrade and device upgrade from the "OUTPUT" Tab into IR.
