Programming for RCA TV (Remote: RC246)
I recently purchased a new RCA TV and would like to upgrade the codes in my OFA URC-8910. Fortunately, the learning mode works with the new remote and I was able to learn the power on toggle. According to IR, the learned code has Protocol: RCA, Device: 15, and OBC: 42. This appears to be a fairly common RCA code for power toggle.
As a test, I used RM to develop a new setup code (TV:2000) with just the power toggle included. However, when I upgrade the OFA with the new setup code, the OFA doesn't switch TV on or off. I'm confident that the program made it to the remote as there is no 2000 built into the OFA and the TV code is showing as 2000 on the remote after the upgrade.
I tried other RCA protocols, but they didn't seem to work either. Furthermore, none of the standard template files or the built-in setup codes works. Using the learned button, I am able to toggle power, I just can't do it from the upgrade. I'm really perplexed why this doesn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions?
For information, the upgrade code used was:
Upgrade Code 0 = 07 D0 (TV/2000) RCA TV (RM v1.95)
AF 00 11 FF 2A
End
and the data associated with the learned key is:
"03 00 23 00 D3 04 07 B9 07 BA 00 FA 0F 4A 00 FA
03 DC 00 FA 01 ED 01 00 9A 22 22 33 23 23 23 33
33 22 32 32 32 10 "
Thanks,
Chris

I'm not sure whether you have tried using setup codes 0047, 1047, 1147, 1247, 1347, or 1447? I suspect 1447 is the newest, and probably the closest match.
All of these are supposed to be in the 8910, and they all are RCA protocol device 15. I think the power key should work when using any of them, but to make sure I would enter the EFC 099 (corresponds to OBC 42) manually. Do that by
1) specifying one of the setup codes (select TV, press setup until 2 blinks, and enter the setup code. The remote shold blink twice if the code was accepted.)
2) key in the EFC while the remote is pointed at the TV (short press of setup, then 099).
That should toggle power.
If it doesn't then we have to question whether the learned protocol is correctly identified.

Upload the actual IR file you are using (that you believe SHOULD work but does not) to the Diagnosis Area of the File Section and provide a link to it here. Somebody will have a look for any potential conflicts you may have in your setup.

For all interested, I've uploaded the .ir file to the diagnostics area. Here is the link

I could not find any of the usual reasons for an upgrade to fail, so I tried both the learn and the upgrade on my Atlas3000. Both decode as as RCA 15 42, but the upgrade is shooting at 58376 Hz while the learn is transmitting at 38707.
I filled in a few keys on this KM sheet. Give it a try,and see if the defined keys work.

There are a lot of other keys in other upgrades. Fill it in with all the functions that work on your TV and then post it in the upgrade area so the next person won't be stuck.
PS. I'm in "training" and would really like feedback as to whether this works or not.

So that's the conclusion, there's a new 38kHz version of the RCA protocol. Graham should add this to DecodeIR

This may be obsolete very quickly if a new protocol is added to the standard, but I wanted to add the RM file for what worked with my TV. FYI, the TV is an RCA L32HD41 using a remote RC246. Please remove the .rmdu file if a better update comes alongs. Once again, thank you to everyone for you help. https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=7020
