Someone, somplace, mentioned this before, but I can't find it at the moment.
Javaw.exe does not release the first instance of a process - it stays in task manager on WindowsXP after RM is closed.
If I start RM again, there are 2 instances of javaw.exe. When I close this one, the process goes away. But the first instance is still there.

I've never seen any mention of that problem before. But I've certainly seen the problem itself, though I don't think as consistently as you describe.
My RM is on a USB hard drive. Often, when I want to remove that drive I find javaw (which is on the C: drive) is running and has open some file on the USB drive. I need to kill the javaw process before disconnecting the USB drive.
This seems to happen the majority of times that I have run RM since last connecting the USB drive, but not all of those times.

Looks like it first appeared in the context of RMIR - see two posts
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... 7718#p47718
confirmed by jetskier. I completely forgot about it.
I did see it when I mapped RM to letter J: but still the same internal drive. And I too saw it when RM was on USB external.
But the stuff I just reported is when RM, upgrades, RDF subdirectories are on the C system drive. I haven't used RMIR this time.

Sort of a cross post..
I don't know if I need to add this suggestion here or else where but..
'RM' needs to support 'Russound' protocol..
And device number setting so that the newer DirecTV R/HR15/20/21 DVR's can be set as device number:
01 (factory setting -C3),
02 (av1-SD-Receivers -D3)
03 (av1-HD Receivers -E3(?? gathered from posting on this board ??))
Since it seems that using "IR" the maxumn number of DirecTV DVR's units are three.

What is this Russound protocol? I don't see it in KM.

Minor bug?
MINOR THING
In KM I made few "dividers", empty lines.
Function names were ";" without the quotes, OBC 255.
When it goes into RM, RM gives out 'index out of bounds error'.
No big deal in the scope of tasks done here, but I thought i should report it

Have you tried a character other than a semi-colon or comma? I think KM files can have semi-colons or commas as the field delimiters, and that could confuse RM's parser. You might try using a dot(.) or dash(-) instead.

No USB, correct?
Hi,
Just confirming that the IR functionality in RM doesn't support USB connections, correct? Mine works fine in IR, but reports "remotes not found" in RM.
Cordially,
eric

Re: No USB, correct?
Correct: RMIR supports JP1 Parallel and JP1.x Serial (which works with many USB-to-Serial adapters).ehart wrote:Hi,

OK. My converter is the $35 one from DIYGadget. I gather that's not one that's supported? I tried manully setting every option that shows in RM, and none worked, so I'm assuming not. I downloaded the latest diygadget driver as well.
I do have an old Parallel adapter that I made a few years ago, if need be I can run this from another computer that has a parport.
Thanks for your work on this software!
Cordially,
Eric

The Java version of IR prepackaged in RM, called RMIR is the one that does not support your cable (JP1 USB cable), but the regular IR.exe program certainly works with your cable. What is preventing you from using IR.exe? (It is the more mature program anyways, compared to RMIR)

Greg,
I have a question about the Devices and Protocols tabs in RMIR. Editing a device opens an RM window which includes both the device and protocol. So the Protocols tab in RMIR appears to serve no purpose. Do you plan to remove it later, or perhaps even rename the Devices tab to Devices/Protocols?
I'm starting to use RM/RMIR more and more, and I must say the more I use it, the more impressed I am with the fantastic job you've done. I especially like the way you handled ModeName on the Special Functions tab. No more ascii code to deal with.

RMIR discussion is mostly in the Prototype IR function in RM thread.
There has been some discussion about this specific topic in that thread, starting here.
