RemoteMaster V1.73: Unable to select Scientific-Atlanta ER1

Post by roger1818 »

When I try to select "Scientific-Atlanta ER1 (Explorer 3-device)" in Remote Master V1.73 I get a Java Null Pointer Exception. I seem to be able to select other devices without any problems. This is my first time using RM so I can't say if the problem existed in previous versions. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?

It isn't a showstopper for me as I am using a URC8811, but I was just checking it out for a friend. From reading other posts in this forum it sounds like this remote has serious limitations and may not be worth using, but it shouldn't cause this error.

I think this happens when the upgrade requires a protocol upgrade and there is none written for the microprocessor that is in the remote. I remember version 1.68 had a pop up dialog box that warned that the upgrade is not compatible with the remote, but it's been givng the java error instead since version 1.69.

RM v1.74 should take care of this.

Thanks! I tried RM v1.74 and that seems to have been my problem. Now all I need to do is figure out a way around the limitations of this remote.
