Hi all,
found this site a few days ago, im very pleased i did
ok i have the urc-8060, built myself a inteface, uploaded/downloaded new setups, change layouts added new devices and stuff. all nice and simple useing tutorials and stuff that ive found here. right so i can do the basics, but that seems to be the limet of my understanding for now.
I have two devices setup on my remote. the xbox dvd remote and the widows media center remote. both devices are setup as sat/cable devices as these have the most buttons avalable.
this is all fine but i dont like the way you have to press the scroll button twice to get the transport and menu buttons. is there any way to change this so the are visible from the start?
thanks for the quick reply. not the answer i was hopeing for. guess it time to buy a new remote. can anyone recomend a good jp1 remote, one avalable in the uk?
What are you looking for in a remote? The URC-8910 seems to be the most popular JP1 remote right now, and given that I ship to the UK, I guess you could say that it's available in the UK!

thats a good remote but it does not have the colour buttons that are used on sat/cable systems in the uk. i dont want another kameleon, they drain batterys and are too bulky.
Its gota have hard buttons, be wife frendly and "look good" (another request by my wife)
it gota be progamable enoght so i can setup all my devices onto one device button, eg one power button for all devices, vpt and more.
Are you used to the 4 coloured buttons always being in the same order (eg, red, green, yellow, blue)? If so, you could program the 4 learning buttons on the URC-8910 to be the coloured buttons. The URC-6131 has 4 coloured buttons, so that might be a possibility, but it doesn't have learning which might be an issue if you need to capture a device in the future.

I have lived in the UK for 2.5 years and that is precisely how I use my HTPro and 8910 (they are clones). Red-Green-Yellow-Blue are always in the same order, so I use L1-L2-L3-L4 as their counterparts for both my TVs and Sky boxes.
Remotes: OFA XSight Touch, AR XSight Touch TVs: LG 65" Smart LED TV; Samsung QN850BF Series - 8K UHD Neo QLED LCD TV RCVR: Onkyo TX-SR875; Integra DTR 40.3 DVD/VCR: Pioneer DV-400VK (multi-region DVD), Sony BDP-S350 (Blu-ray), Toshiba HD-A3 (HD-DVD), Panasonic AG-W1 (Multi-system VCR); Laserdisc: Pioneer CLD-D704. Amazon Firestick tape deck: Pioneer CT 1380WR (double cassette deck) (But I still have to get up for my beer)
Ditto Capn Trips (except that I've lived here - on and off - 42.5 years rather than 2.5 years). On my 8910 L1, 2, 3, 4 are the standard colour keys. My PVR has a white key so I use ComSkip for that. M1, 2 and 3 I use for changing TV AV inputs and these keep their functions throughout the device modes. I use Swap for the eject function on the VCR and for open/close on the DVD player and recoder. When watching via the PVR (which has PIP functionality) Swap works as PIP Swap (i.e. how it was intended).
I tried painting the buttons but the colour wore off in no time. You can, I believe, get special paint but I haven't found it to be necessary.
Battery life is excellent with standard alkaline AAAs and very good with rechargeable NiMHs especially if you can get your hands on the 1300mAh ones.
My first programmable remote was a URC8040 but it now lies neglected in the drawer as the 8910 is easier to use and tougher when the kids drop it.
If you press the pvr button on the 8060 it goes directly to the screen you need.
Otherwise, (and better still) I have set up a macro on the device buttons, so that it automatically goes to the correct screen for that device. This can only be done by jp1 - you canot do it on the remote alone.
