I agree that the widget is the way to go. But if you want to go the remote route, AFAIK, the radio shack 15-133 is the cheapest, most widely available (in the US), learning JP1.3 remote these days. They're $20 and often go on sale for $10.

True that but if you think of a remote purchase and a JP1 ...

I understand, but this will not being used for continuous viewing. The downstream, into the SlingCatcher at location 2, is the main viewing stream. Use of the local Slingbox at location 2, and the resulting upstream to location 3 ...

This is not a PCMCIA card but somewhat the same idea.

A lot (actually most) of the new desktops do not come with com or parallel ports. I purchased a MosChip PCI 2 serial and 1 parallel port. Both com ports work great but hardly anything works with the parallel port. Yes, it works fine as a ...

Re: RemoteMaster

It does, but it's still in beta, hence not fully functional or documented yet. Add -ir to the command line when you run RM. I don't know what you searched for, but I found THIS without even trying.

Thanks. Very interesting.

Like all these sites, searching is kind of a skill. I searched for ...

RemoteMaster

When I look at the files included with RemoteMaster, I see I/O library files. Serial, parallel, USB for Windows and serial, parallel for Linux. When I look at all the options in RM, I can't find a place where it does any of that kind of I/O.

Have I missed something or if not, why the files?

I ...

Ahhh ya, your right. I have an eraser unit too. I must be hanging around here too much and have IR on the brain.

WOW that is really cool - I remember very long time ago how difficult it was to program EEPROMs - one needed to use IR to burn it permanently as far as I ...

As a noob, that has played with this stuff, I like JP1.0.

As the same noob, I have to ask how much explaining will be required for old posts and IR? What I'm wondering, is if you do have people that want to learn and do reading, will JP1.0 confuse the issue?

The better user, is the one that reads ...

Ok, maybe I'm confused?

I could care less what political banners are run, so long as it helps pay for the site.

Political threads are a different issue. We don't need them.

We are probably all off topic, off forum purpose in this thread. Lets get back to JP1 stuff.

In this case the banner was political. I'm guessing they help off set the cost of running this place.

If I was the site owner, so long as it was legit, I would run banners for who ever paid me money.

Both parties, would have been even better.
