Two Dishnetwork receivers, two addresses... hopefully...
I have what I believe is an odd situation.
I preferred the channels that were available for dish network, but I sincerely wanted a dual tuner system for the PVR and PiP and at the time they didn't have a dual tuner receiver. Our solution was to purchase the Dish DP510 and Dish 301 Receivers to put together a pseudo dual reciever system.
As a work around I changed the remote addresses to unique positions so that I could control each receiver seperately. But, I am tired of shuffling the two remotes + tv + dvd + sound.
I was hoping JP1 with your aid could solve my problem. The receivers already know what address they should listen to, so that should be inherent. The issue will be to plug in the default UEIC Codes and then hook up my remote to the computer and force a specific address.
Here are the components:
- Dish PVR 510 (Address 2)
- Dish 301 (Address 1)
- Onkyo HT-R510
- Mitsu TV WS-65311
- Mitsu DVD DD-6040
Is there a recommended remote for these components or this purpose? And will it all work?
At this point I just hope it is all possible.
Thank You in advance,

For PVR use, I like the URC-6131M (M=modified for JP1, which you can buy at BlueDo, SurfRemoteControl, or directly from Rob). Other good choices at the URC-8810w (or URC-8811), and the RS 15-2116.
There are a number of device upgrade at Yahoo that should help you:
DishNetwork_301_Upgrade_1994.txt
There are 5 different Dish DVR upgrades in the PVR folder
Onkyo_HT-SR510_Receiver.txt
Mitsubishi WS-55809 TV.txt (it's a different model, but it should work)
Mitsubishi CD-4030.txt (different model, but might work)

Excellent! Thank you!
But my main issue will be the addressing of the remotes, so my PVR 510 and Dish 301 receivers don't "crosstalk". I need the remote to handle the PVR as one component and the 301 as another component but on separate addresses. I searched the FAQ's but it still isn't clear if this is possible. Currently if my PVR and 301 share the same address then either remote controls both receivers simultaneously.
Is it possible to specify the remote address with the IR application?

You can change the remote address using KM or RM and IR. The 301 Upgrade and the PVR upgrade will have a field where you can enter the desired remote address.

Awesome!!! That will solve my major issue.
One last question on this issue before I purchase and dig in...
What is the difference between the URC-6131 and the URC-6131M?
It appears that the 6131M supports the dish network PVR, but is the modification something I can do easily by myself? I have already purchased the JP1 Cable from bluedo and I was hoping to quickly pick up a remote at a local retailer.
However, if the 6131M can save me some significant time then I will go that route and be patient.

The URC-6131M is a URC-6131 that been after-market modified by adding the JP1 pins AND an EEPROM. There are instructions for modifying it yourself in the hardware folder at the jp1 group at yahoo.

Just FYI, you can buy the modified URC_6131 remotes directly from me if you like, they are $25 plus $2 shipping.

Is there another name for this field and is there a particular tab (sheet) I can find it on? I just got my remote and JP1 cable... every device is working perfectly, I just need to be able to specify the address on the 301 device. I am currently working out of KM.
BTW, I have the 6131m remote and it is communicating successfully with the laptop that I am now typing this on.[/i]

It's called "Unit Code", on the Setup sheet.

Thank you so much! Everything is working perfectly, and I saved 100's of dollars because the only remote that would support this out of the box was about $600, I can't even remember the model number.
But I can't even begin to express my appreciation for your help and this community. The address is working well, and I am already off and remapping buttons successfully.
However, I have two annoyances that I hope you can guide me to clear up
1) Onkyo_HT-SR510_Receiver
I am using this to allow for the new features in this KM. However, I need to specify a Protocol ID to IR in Hex. As near as I can tell the protocol ID is 01 40. When I convert this to hex 0140 it comes to 008c but this will not operate the receiver
Do I need to change the protocol name from NEC1 Combo?
How would I determine the protocol ID, particularly in Hex?
2) VPT works on all set devices except the PVR on Address 1(Unit Code). It will not adjust the volume on my Television like it is being asked to in IR.
I am using this KM: DishNetwork PVR 508 v7.19.
I have tried other KeyMaps without any success. I have tried disabling VPT uploading to the remote and turning VPT back on, No success there either.
I have double checked that there are no functions mapped to the Vol + and Vol - Buttons on the remote.
Can I get the VPT to function in this situation? And if so, can you provide some pointers?
Thank you again, so very much!!

Now you have me confused. Why do you need to specify a Protocol ID to IR? When you copy-n-paste the upgrade from RM/KM to IR, it should take care of everything. All that's left for you to do is make sure that on the General tab you have a device button that uses the device type and setup code of your upgrade. This particular upgrade (unless you've modified it) uses device type Amp (which is an alias for AUD) and setup code 1135 (NOT hex).pngwyn wrote:1) Onkyo_HT-SR510_Receiver

I don't know what is wrong with VPT, but a workaround would be use keymoves from your TV vol+/- and mute keys to your PVR device.pngwyn wrote:2) VPT works on all set devices except the PVR on Address 1(Unit Code). It will not adjust the volume on my Television like it is being asked to in IR.

Thank you. My question to the Onkyo problem was answered here. It seems I wasn't copying *everything* in the protocol box.

I was just tired and lazy last night and didn't even think of looking at the Guide. I haven't tried it to see if my problem will be solved now, but my assumption is that it will be.
On the VPT, That should work great, Thank you!!
