We discussed the Marantz receiver pretty well in this topic
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11122
What color is the OK/Select button on your comcast remote?
If you have the Red Ok/Select you use 30189 for your setup code, if you have the Gray ok/Select you use Aux/0189 for your basic code.
You then set up keymoves for the functions you need.
Then
Here's how you program an EFC on the remote...
1) Press AUX
3) Hold SETUP, 2 flashes
4) Type 994, 2 flashes
4) Tap SETUP
5) Enter the 5 digit EFC
6) Tap the button to be programmed, 2 flashes
EFC button
00167 vol up
00199 vol down
00068 mute
00036 power _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

I have the red OK/Select button. I read the section you referred to and thought I followed the instructions correctly, but it didn't work. Here is what i did.
Step 1
Press Aux
Held Setup until it flashed twice
entered 30189 after which Aux blinked twice
Step 2
Pressed Aux
Held Setup until it blinked twice
entered 994
Tapped Setup
Entered 00036 (for power)
Tapped Aux and waited for two flashes that never came
Did I do this correctly? |

ALMOST
The last step you pressed the wrong key. You tapped the Aux key, but you want to program the POWER key. _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Did I do this correctly? | Check the bold red highlighted text above. According to what you WROTE, you attempted to program the "Power" command to the "Aux" device button, which I do not believe you want to do. You want to program the "Power" command to the "Power" button, do you not? so instead of "Tapped AUX" try "Tapped Power"

Thanks. That works except I have to push the AUX button while I'm watching TV to get the remote to work the Receiver functions (except the all on/all off button). The remote switches automatically between the cable and TV functions, but not the AUX/Receiver functions. Can I fix it so that I don't need to do that? |

Yes you can fix that in a number of ways.
But I'm not sure exactly what you want to do here.
Do you want Every device to use the receiver for volume?
Cable Mode to use receiver for volume?
Are you going to try a third device on here like a DVD player? _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

I would like to use the comcast remote to control the receiver volume and mute when watching TV. I intend to add a DVD soon, but am not as concerned about that. |

Just create three button moves for those buttons from AUX to TV and three button moves from Aux to Cable. _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

Sorry, but I don't have any idea what you mean or how to do it. |

So on that step 6 Tap the button to be programmed, 2 flashes
The button would be
TV followed by Volume-
TV followed by Volume+
TV followed by Mute.

Keep in mind that these keymoves will be persistant even when you change the AUX device for your DVD player.
So Aux Power is still going to turn on the receiver, not the DVD, although if you pressed setup/power the DVD player would turn on (a phenomenon we call shift cloaking) So you should be aware that you may need to remove your keymove from the Aux Power if this is not where you want it, so you get used to using it the way you want. _________________ Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.
