I have Windows 98SE, Excel 97 SR-1 with Analysis Toolpak, km v8.10 and km v8.11

During opening of the km file, excel crashes with "this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down". Clicking on the details button produces:

Is this a known problem with Excel 97? It works OK on other spreadsheets, though none of them is remotely as complex as km.

This is the first I've heard of it. Did KM ever work for you, or did this just start? What happens if you try opening KM after you've booted up the computer?

It has never worked for me (but I've only had it for a couple of weeks, and tried it maybe 10 times). I've been using RM instead but now I've run into something that RM doesn't support, hence my new interest in getting km going...

I just tried it after a reboot and the same crash happened.

I also have it on another computer (WinXP with Excel 2003). I think it's OK there but I've only loaded maybe a couple of times to poke around.

I have seen this as well. It's not consistent. When it fails for me, it usually fails while loading an upgrade, not when just loading KM. But if I retry a few times it will usually work. At one point I thought it was related to what was in the clipbiard, but I don't think so anymore. I'm using Excel 97 on Win XP home.
