Trying to upload a code to the remote

Post by Jerry98vert »

I downloaded a code, from this site, I put it in KM, did a copy/paste device. I pasted in IR.exe and I see the code number 1962. I assigned the AUX button to be 1962 and I upload to my remote.

The remote does not show 1962 when I hit the AUX button and when I do a manual code number (code set feature) I dosen't find 1962.

I'm sure I missed a step.

After you load it in KM you must change the Remote: choice to match your remote type. That is the first pull down choice at the top left of the Setup sheet.

I did that and I do see the new code in IR.exe, and when I upload the code to the remote it doesn't show up in the remote.

I refer you to the standard advice provided in the JP1 for beginners thread. Read the second post therein (linked in my sig below as "Something not working?") and upload the relevant files to the diagnostic area and post links to them describing the symptoms. That way you are more likely to get an informed response much more quickly rather than having to go back and forth asking questions like the one above, and this one:
Is the device type of your upgrade the same as the device type you selected in IR on the General tab where you assigned the upgrade to a device button?

Nope. Not screenshots, but the actual KM file (filename.txt) and the actual IR file (filename.ir) uploaded to the diagnostic area, and linked in a post here.

Ok thanks found the file section, I'm trying to use ImageShack, but I can't upload the .txt file and the .ir file. What's the best way to do this.

Did you also copy & paste the Protocol Code from KM over to IR?

ImageShack?

Go to the Diagnosis area and click the Image button for each file you want to upload.

p.s. - Please post links to those files back here in this thread.

No images are required, nor image hosting.

Click on the File Section link near the top of this page.

Click on the Diagnosis Area link on the list of sections on THAT page.

Click on Image near the top of that page and fill in the form, browsing over to the file in question on your hard drive.

Repeat for other files.

Please do not forget to provide a link to the files in this thread.

Most likely!

When KM (or RM) show a Protocol Code upgrade it MUST be copied into IR along with the Device Upgrade. The reason the remote can't find the code is that it thinks it's invalid because it can't find the protocol so it assumes it's an error and ignores the device upgrade altogether.

That's pretty likely - as the big red rectangle on the first worksheet in KM might get your attention to that effect.
