8910 with DirecTV R15 DVR and Toshiba DVD HDXa1

Post by leesweet »

(I've used IR and KM a bit a year ago, but I'm sure I've forgotten something stupid, so I'm posting this in the beginner section.... :) )

Modifying my old 8910 config for new DVR and DVD. Both files seem to work fine in KM (8.44). The recent added functions to the DVR (advance and replay) were remapped onto different buttons. When the protocol and upgrade are pasted into IR (6.15), the two 'new' functions seem to be gone. The buttons are now 'not mapped'.

IR file with both R15 and Tosh DVD:

Any suggestions appreciated!

I don't know how you're copying and pasting the upgrade into IR, but I just tried it and it works fine, the Device section of IR changed and populated those two function positions.

Here's the IR file I got by simply taking your IR file, and replacing the SAT/1377 device upgrade with the one from your KM file.

Hm... I was copying using the clipboard button, and pasting variously with ctrl-V and menu items. Let me try using copy and not the clipboard button, and see.

Thanks for checking it out!

Still the same failure. I even deleted the new DVD device, and the R15 still looses the 'new' functions on those buttons when the device and protocol are pasted in.

Capn, did you mean to include the new IR file? In any event, I'd like to get it working on my copy....

Anyone got any suggestions on why this is failing with what I'm using?

Just like Capn, it works here for me too. Here's the exact steps I used:

1) Open the R15 upgrade file in KM
2) Open the current IR file.
3) Click device upgrade [Copy] button.
4) Go to IR Devices tab.
5) Select SAT:1377 and click [Edit] button.
6) Paste code into Upgrade Device dialog (ensuring that the current code is ALL hilighted first).
7) Click [Ok].
8) Confirm that Stop button is set to Hex Command 36 and F.Fwd is set to 37 in the Key Map grid on IR's Devices tab.

At this point you should be able to upload to the remote.

Yeah, with the software I was using it still didn't work. I then download IR 6.20 and it's fine. Go figure.

Thanks for all the suggestions:

One question: Shouldn't the current recommended software be in the tools section here, or not? I find different versions here than on Yahoo. (8.44 KM there, and I believe the latest is 8.43 here except for the beta...).

Perhaps a section for 'current stable tools' vs. beta, etc.? Or perhaps I'm missing something.

(BTW, one reason I used the Y versions was that the IR version I had still gave that at the place to get upgrades. Haven't checked to see if 6.20 points us here...)

The latest software IS in the tools section here. The authors don't always have the time, wherewithal, presence of mind, whatever... to modify the description, the long name, the short name, etc. They are more interested in getting the new ZIP file uploaded and going on to help folks (or with their lives). If you download the file and look inside the ZIP, you will see the actual version numbers.

Thanks for that update, Capn. I do know whereof you speak, having done some software development a while back.

Good to know the most current ones are here, and I'll be sure to use them going forward!
