New DirecTV D11 Receiver and R15 PVR Signal Codes

Deekman, I just canceled my cable and signed up with Directv. I got the R15 and D11 pvr/receivers. I tried to follow what you've done so far, but can't seem to get it to work with my 6131 remote. How are you coming with your upgrade file?

I used the DirecTV D10 SAT 1377 KM file for my 7800 and it worked ok (after having to remember how to do it again, been over 3 yrs). I found a couple wrong things in it but easily fixed.

The function labled menu is actually interactive.

Not sure where I got EFC 088 from (dont see it in original file) but it is for what I called alt info. Brings up the info overlay but if you push it again it cycles through the audio modes.

Renamed functions OBC 65-68 to their respective button colors, just made it easier for me.

The function labled alt menu is actually menu.

The only things I dont have assigned to buttons is replay and advance (ran out of buttons). I havent tried the PIP buttons since I only have one cable into my box right now so no PIP, but everything else works perfectly. I can upload my file if you want, has advance and replay added to functions and the function renames in it.

You don't need permission. If you feel you have a file that is "better" in whatever way you define "better" you are encouraged to upload it to the file section. Someone will ultimately find it useful.

ok, hope i dont sound stupid but i dont have access to run KM

ive been using RM with my 8910 remote

my question is RM freaks out then only gives me a couple choices of remotes and my 8910 aint one of them.

I RMA'd my SD40 from directv and with allot of xfers to supervisors i got in mail new R15 for $20 with no further contracts (been customer since 1996) so maybe they gave in when i kept repeating that.

anyways UEI did a phone trick to activate the 1377 on my 8910 and i only checked channel up and down...... hung up and nothing else worked. my luck they just closed so now i am stuck till monday....... and prolly till thursday till my missing remote that did not come with R15 finally arrives.

this site has been good to me over many devices, maybe i was just spoiled and had RM files handy for me. Now RM freaking out over the latest. --- will this work... even though it was not designed for 8910?

again, i apoligize for sounding stupid, this first time trying KM file inside RM and the remote layout freaks me out.

maybe somebody has directions and links for importing instead of opening or tell me whats going on or will it work

and yes...... 8910 is JP1

You are going to be more specific than "freaks out".

I was able to load that upgrade file into RM with no problem, and change the remote the URC-8910.

stupid me forgot the drop down menu and was going by original scripts...

yes dont know if works will try it... i am sure it will.

i lost the "LIST" function because no "Surround" key........ no biggie there

maybe its just me, notta, nothing, arg.

theres got to be a way..... i want to type numbers in a keyboard --- Direct TV making this difficult.

this R15 aint like any of my other devices --- i tried all to no luck.

even started from scratch and only had R15 in there --- thank god i backed up --- i still cant get over the fact 1377 only controls chanels and power and not numbers.

1) either i am missing something
or
2) i am going to have to change signature post below

please enlighten me

ok... stupid.... i finally figuring it out using the 1377.txt and not the 7800 file helped.

also i found that my old tivo had lots of keyovers..... so had to delete anything with 1142 code... inside IR --- still dont know why the 7800 file did not work for me on blanked out remote.

i do feel stupid.... so easy to figure out and i can type in channel names.... now to add some of the extra functions missing

ok... just got my remote sent to me for R15 -- the box i got did not have it so it was shipped ... the original remote that is.

now using original 1377 file and not 7800 file......

problem is this

menu button is different than menu via the KM.txt file

menu on 8910 shows the split screen preview....... menu on original has normal small menu on lower left corner.

is there a EFC for this function?

i dont need split screen previews using the menu button

Try EFC 019 for menu.

it took awhile cause i never played with RM this much...... again i have been previously spoiled cause all other devices on remote had RM files

anyways it took me a bit of playing......... and its turned out again "too simple" ........ almost too simple that i never thought of it.

thanks again maskedman......... helped allot even if that code was given before........ i downloaded the d10 KM file....... so i obviously misseed it..... EFC 019 for menu in RM then to IR....... acting just like original remote

now a new problem...... 131 efc works good backwards 8 secs or so

123 goes all the way forward??? i was hoping for somewhat a 30 sec skip like in older models.......

is there not a EFC for 30 or second skip???

thanks for advance....... 123 just goes all the way forward....... or do i need to use a remote control hack to make 30 secs?

Now, there is no 30 sec skip on R15. supposedly its coming in a future upgrade from DTV.

dang..... so now im stuck without a 30 sec or so skip EVER in life time

directv aint going to allow 30 sec skip....... making too much on thier commercials........ dang i neeed to call DTV again...... now i am pissed....

not at you...... but because dtv sent me something i cant skip forwoard with

dang circles, thats all i ran into yesterday was on hold and transfered so many times........ ARRG.

finally after disconected calls, wrong transfers i was told to call back tommorow ( today)

so i did, R10 comming soon........ no extra fee's no extra cost except the time on phone trying to stress the importance of the 30-sec skip i had previously on older unit for many years. ( 3 hours on phone yesterday +30mins today to solve my issue)

**** NOTE ****
those that think D* does not have good support, then i agree, HOWEVER --- talk calm, call operator by name to show some sort of respect, and then keep asking for that supervisors, supervisor when all else fails.

i cant complain other than long time on phone and repeated calls on my part.... but D* has given me my 30sec skip via R-10 and all is good as soon as i get it. D* is a little tougher than most companys, and operators you first talk too only have "SO MUCH POWER" .... after all the first operators might be lucky to make $8 /hr ... if that. dont get mad at them, they follow a script.

*** to sum this up ** if your new to DVR/tivo then the R-15 looks like it might have features. it is way different than tivo units in past from D* ... for somebody never used to TIVO functions the R-15 might be a learning curve to start from --- however TIVO is much better --- the R-15 is D*'s attempt of TIVO without using TIVO

so with that info ..... if you are used to tivo functions such as 30 sec skip, you will be very disapointed.

my old unit was 40gb, the R15 is 100gb and the R10 is 70gb.

i just wanted my 30 sec skip function back. --- so i downgraded from R-15 to R-10

*** again....... no cost for downgrading the R-15 to a R-10 ---- all shipping paid...... also no further contracts --- the same deal i got with R-15 in first place when my 40gb died.

but i have been customer for 10 years..... maybe thats why?

final question do i enter codes on remote of r10 when i get it... (select, play, select, 3, 0, select) ?.. or is there a EFC# for that on R-10?

also......... do i need to re-program my 8910? or is the 1377 still good for the R-10 and work the same ?

i guess i got more research to do on this R-10 --- i just got off the phone with D* not even 10mins ago

yes. and the supervisors, supervisors, supervisor tried telling me same thing.

i just said that has been a promise for over a "few months" now,.... and that i was not willing to wait till X-mas or after xmas to get that feature.

a feature i previously had....... a feature i enjoyed........ and with this R-15 ..... a feature i so dearly miss..

again......... all quiet.......... not yelling and calm.........and calling superviser by name:)

now the R-10 comming soon
