Replacement for dead Cinema7

Post by timewalker »

Yeah, it lasted a while, but the trusty Cinema 7 from the bedroom is finally dead.
I was lucky enough to find a URC-8810B00 at Wal-Mart a couple of years ago (green backlight!), but of course, they are gone now.
I haven't taken the JP1 jump yet, but I plan to.
Since I have a DVR in the bedroom now, I need a little more than the C7, so a learning remote like the 8810 would be great.
What should I get?
Thanks,
Joe

For a DVR, I think the modded URC-6131 is good, altough if you go that route you'll definitely want to jump right into JP1.
IF the 6131, isn't good enough, get another URC-8811.

Whatever you get, get it from Rob, and if you might as well get yor cable at the same time.

If you get the 6131, get an 8811 also, since the 6131 doesn't learn, and you REALLY want the 8811's learning ability. Rob's prices are low, and the second remote ships for free (effectively).

Minor update - it's a DISH Network 508 DVR/Sat receiver. So I don't think I need the thumbs up/thumbs down buttons from the 6131.
I'm thinking an 8811 or 8910 and a JP1 cable from Rob.
Thanks.

EDIT: Rob, would you be interested in my now dead Cinema 7 (non-learner URC-7200 I guess - the text is all worn off)?
