Sorry, I'm not sure I can help much, but ALL eBay sellers don't require Paypal, do they? They're not required to. Why don't you e-mail a seller and explain that you need to pay a different way. Someone might be willing to work with you on that.

The only other vendor I know of is Hovis (he advertises in the Marketplace section of the forum). Although be warned that he is notoriously slow with shipping, although never (imho) dishonest.

IResolve don't require paypal. This is from there terms and conditions on there site.

# I accept PayPal, Money Orders, and Cashiers Checks. E-checks and Personal checks must clear the bank before item(s) are shipped.

Where do you live? I'm not aware of there being countries where Paypal is not allowed to operate. How were you hoping to pay for the cable?

This is the only seller I've found on eBay as of this moment (1115 GMT, 21 March), and he most certainly accepts forms of payment other than Paypal.
Shipping, payment details and return policy
Shipping Cost Services Available Available to
FREE Standard Delivery Canada only
FREE Standard Int'l Flat Rate Shipping United States
US $3.00 Other Int'l Shipping (see description) Mexico, Europe, Asia, Australia

Will ship to Worldwide.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shipping insurance
Not offered
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seller's payment instructions
I accept Paypal, money orders, and personal checks.
However, check has to clear before item is shipped. Payment must be received before package is shipped. Free shipping to Canada and USA. USD $3 shipping fee for other locations worldwide.

Payment methods accepted
Personal check
Money order/Cashiers check
Learn about payment methods.
So I don't see your problem. Other than the obvious eternity it will take for your payment to reach the seller, him to wait for it to clear, and then finally for the shipment to reach you.

Just FYI, that seller "syncmaster" is the guy behind the DIYgadget.com web site.

You're right, it doesn't appear that Dubai, or the UAE, are covered by Paypal, but that doesn't mean that you couldn't set up a Paypal account if you realy wanted to. Do you know anybody that lives in a covered country? If you do, you could open a new credit card using their address (if they're OK with this), then use that credit card to open a Paypal account, again giving their address. Pick a credit card where you can view your statements online so you don't have to wait for the physical statements (which would be sent to your friends address), better yet, see if the credit card will let you have two addresses. The only problem with this setup though, is that alot of ebay sellers will only ship to paypal confirmed addresses, and your confirmed address will be in another country, so it might not be worth it in the long term.

Well, first things first, you need to find a friend who lives in a country that is covered by Paypal who's willing to let you use his address as a mailing address, then you need to ask them to help you set up the credit card.

I guess I don't yet understand why you are insisting on Paypal. I realize you might find it useful for any number of other reasons, but as has been amply shown in this thread, you don't need it to buy a JP1 cable, and that was the main purpose of this thread, was it not?

I'm suggesting that he set up an account because it would be useful for a number of different reasons.
