We need search to work the files section

Post by ElizabethD »

RE: SEARCH button
We all know that Devices.xls https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=2039 is popular.
But 1644-hits-popular?
Could devices be sticky, PLEASE. I can never find it when I need it

You do know that the file section has it's own SEARCH button, right?

It does? How do you access it? When I'm in the File Section, the Search button takes me to the Forum search.

It does have the same layout as the forum search, but it searches the file section. And just to be sure we're talking about the same thing, I'm not talking about the search link in the header (ie, the one between FAQ and Memberlist), I'm talking about the search ICON on the line below (ie, like the working icon below):

Well, that link doesn't work for me (the one in the your post). And I don't see an icon like that anywhere in the File Section.

Is it supposed to be next to the Image?

If so, it doesn't show up for me.

I just logged out and logged in using my test account and I see that those buttons are not viable.

I checked the admin panel and there is an option to make them visable for everyone, so I have just done that.

I didn't know they weren't visable to everyone, so this thread has served a useful purpose.

User rights. Always a pain.
Thank you, Rob and Greg.
Well, I guess I need a lesson HOW to use Search. 61 hits is better than 1600 but not one of them pointed to devices.xls. I'm picking on this file, because I know it's unique, there can't be more than a handful (most likely just 2) refs to it. What am I missing???

Ha! It turns on precise definition of "local".
Here, it is, there it's not, you never know. It's out of control.

I've moved it to the mail Tools folder, which should make it easier to find. The "dev" version is still in the Spreadsheets folder.

The search doesn't like the periods in the name, so if you search for devices.xls you won't find it. However, if you search for devices you will.
