When I looked yesterday at the 10/26 4:30+- pm file, "HDTV" displayed when I pushed CBL on 8910. Then lowspeed reported it worked. Indicentally, there was no CBL upgrade, setup was 0000.

What's OT?
I presume you want to see the device name on all the time instead of the LCD shutting down. If you're ready for the challenge of reassembling the extender, this post has a simple, neat solution (I have not tried it) http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... ht=set+lcd
Search is likely to reveal many more. I've seen it several times.

Regarding keeping the LCD display on continuously. You may notice a battery drain, might you not?
Regarding the extender disabling RF - I sincerely doubt that. How have you confirmed that the RF is not transmitting?
Take a camcorder or digital camera, and watch (on the preview screen, not through the optical viewfinder) the IR transmitter window on the "Command Center" as you send an IR signal from the 9910, you should see whether or not the Command Center is transmitting or not.
You may find that the Command Center is continuously emitting spurious IR signals, which indicates a problem with RF noise in your house, rather than weakness of the RF transmission from the 9910. These Command Centers have notoriously been problematic in that regard, with people searching for optimum placements to minimize such interference. Seearch the forum for several threads on this topic.
