I tried to upgrade my URC-6012 to JP1 without success. I also tried to build a JP1 cable but never could get either to work. I wanted JP1 mainly so I could create macros on the device keys.

Recently, I bought a Windows Media Center PC. So, I called OFA about uprading my URC-6012. They told me they would replace my URC-6012 with a URC-8820. I had read some reviews on this new remote and I knew it was not JP1able, but I liked the button layout and the learning capability so I did it

I got the new remote back and read the manual. There's a section on "Programming a Macro on a Device Key". VERY NICE! This remote does everything I need.

Well, aside from not providing the consumer the option to upgrade via PC and 6-pin connector on his own, requiring fora such as this one to flourish. Rolling Eyes
