I'm using some homemade HTML that is cloned from the regular upload page, so nothing unusual there. And actually, the TV file that Mark is asking about was loaded up using the actual upload page, that one wasn't done using my homemade HTML.

You may be onto something with the binary thing because there are alot of files in the Yahoo file section that when downloaded and opened using Notepad show black boxes where all the line breaks are supposed to be (you can fix this by cut & pasting the data into Wordpad, then cut & pasting it back to Notepad), while most of the other text files download OK.

Even the ones where the line breaks show up as block boxes open OK in the IE browser.

I doubt that's it since I can right-click, Save As..., and the files are fine (i.e. they have the proper line breaks).

The more I look into this, the more it looks like an IE problem on my end. My problem system is XP SP2 with IE 6 SP2. On an XP/IE system without SP2, I get the "open/save" dialog, etc. So my system is clearly doing something differently.

I found a solution to the missing "Save Target As" problem in IE here. By turning Content Advisor off in IE, I can R-click the Download button and save text files. I'd rather keep content advisor on, so if anyone finds a better solution, please post it.

gota love how M$ protects it's end users by compleatly taking away control of their systems.

download mozilla's firefox , just use that to get the files.

I'm having the same probelm with the downloads. I've test selected over 40 files and only 2 have given me the download dialog box asked whether to SAVE, OPEN or CANCEL. The only work-around I've been able to sucessfully use, in the above mentions, is to right-click on the DOWNLOAD button and select SAVE TARGET AS. Then the file can be opened as text in NotePad.

All IR saved files, KM device upgrades, and RM device upgrades are text files, although some of them have special extensions (.ir and .rmdu).

Has there been any progress on the mime types? I'm having all sorts of problems downloading files with Firefox. Everything comes through as text, and the file name gets lost in the process. Even .zip files. They seem to download correctly, 'cause when I rename them I can then unzip with no problems.
