Well.... I'm impressed that their response seems to be informed and correct. That rates it a 7 out of 10 for email tech support.
Of course... you need to actually SOLVE the problem to get higher than a 7. _________________ Peter |

I'd take off half a point for grammar: writing "effected" when she meant "affected." _________________ I used to have 5 remotes that controlled one thing each. Now I have 6 remotes that each control everything! |

Well no matter where I put my command center, I am hosed.
My old RF OFA (9800?) did not have that problem, so guess I will be returning the 2117 and going back to that remote.
sigh... |

Does the 2117 work with the command center from the old remote? _________________ Mark |

Does not appear to.
Now I plugged in my old command center and the light does faintly blink every now and then. The new RS command center must have a higher gain to try and pick up the RF signal.
Makes me wonder if there is just a generic op-amp gain circuit where I could adjust the feedback resister to reduce the input gain. |

As far as I know, the 15-2117 and the URC-9800 uses exactly the same command centers, are you saying that this not true? _________________ Rob

I was trying to edit my last message before you posted but oh well.
I just double checked and I was incorrect for saying that.
Both command centers are interchangeable.
But for some reason, the OFA command center does not have any noise problems.
Sorry for the confusion |

There is a command center (made by OFA) that is compatible with the 15-2117, but has less noise problems??
Can you please tell me how to get one? (i.e. the model number of the OFA remote that includes it?)
I wouldn't mind having another remote... I'm thinking of changing my equipment around to the point that having 2 universal remotes will become more important... |

He mentioned the model number in the earlier posts, it's the URC-9800 "Producer 8". I do have some of these that I will be selling soon, but I haven't sorted them out yet.
Personally, I expect it's more a case of the quality of the one box vs. the other, rather than any model specific differences between the unit that ships with the 15-2117 vs. the one that used to ship with the URC-9800. _________________ Rob

Sorry for not rereading the thread... it didn't interest me when he said it didn't work, then forgot that it was there when he said it did.
J&R seems to have the 9800 available for $40+shipping, FWIW. |

Sorry to drag this up, but I am becoming fed up with the RF portion of my 2117. With any of the RF fuctions, I quite often have to press a button 2 times, to get it to work, but once it starts it continues to work, till I pause. For instance I am sitting there and I wanna surf channels. I hit the channel up button and nothing happens, so I press it again and it works. If I continue to press buttons within a second or 2 of the previous push, my equipment usually responds, but if I stop and wait for 5-10 seconds then press a button, AGAIN the first press is missed and then the RF picks up the 2nd press and it works.
This is really starting to annoy me, to the point, I am thinking of returning it. I love this remote, but the RF abilities are why I bought it. Anyone know if the OFA sister unit(9910 I believe) has this same problem?
Any ideas, other than moving the RF box around? |

Just a note, I gave up on the RF portion of the 2117 and went back to my old "cone" remote extenders and they work like a charm(except you have to aim at the cone).
It's a shame the RF doesn't work well on the 2117. Hopefully, somewhere down the line, they will get it sorted out, for the next version. I wonder if the OFA version(9910 I think) has this issue. |
