Device combiner with Pioneer DVD

Post by t_for_tango »

I've successfully used the Device Combiner for a couple of years with a URC-7562. Recently I've got a URC-8060 and I was having trouble with the DC and a device using the Pioneer DVD protocol. My problem was any of the codes using the Pioneer DVD protocol simply didn't work. I have now sorted this out and it's working fine.

The reason I had a problem was that I had created a 1-byte device (1571) which used the Pioneer DVD protocol (017E). When I imported this into DC (in RM) it came in as 007E (00 not 01). I was adding the 017E protocol into IR and I guess the URC-8060 must have a different 007E built in (DVD2, MIX, ..?)

Anyway, I now change the 017E protocol to 007E when I add it into IR (as I don't need the built in protocol) and everything works fine.

When I load my 1-byte 1571 into RM it shows the PID as 017E, and outputs an Upgrade Protocol of 017E. But if I edit the .rmdu file I see 007E:

Code: Select all

Description=1-byte 1571 (Pioneer DVD)
Remote.name=URC-8060 Kameleon
Remote.signature=KAMEKAM0
DeviceType=DVD
DeviceIndex=3
SetupCode=1571
Protocol=00 7E
Protocol.name=Pioneer DVD
Protocol.variantName=1
ProtocolParms=null null null
FixedData=3A 66 0A
I thought this was strange...?

Also, in RM (I'm using v1.66 btw) if I choose protocol of Pioneer DVD it uses PID of 017E,
But if I choose protocol of DC and then "Add" protocol Pioneer DVD under the "Device Combiner" tab it uses PID of 007E.
I would have thought these both would have used the same PID.

Any thoughts?

Regards,
tango.

Fantastic Greg - thanks.
I'll download 1.67 and try it out over the weekend.

I tried v1.67 over the weekend and it works great - thanks Greg.
DC now imports my device as 017E, and if I add a Pioneer DVD protocol under DC it also uses 017E now. I don't have to change anything back to 007E :-)

Thanks for making this change.

Tango.
