External Function (RemoteMaster) problem

Post by kawayanan »

Hello,

I have a couple of URC-3161n's and now URC-8811 (using a parallel cable). Until recently I had everything working great - then I went and upgraded my TV. :)

I use my remotes mostly to run my MythTV PVR, but like to have the volume buttons, the power, and a few other buttons control the TV (while using the PVR function). Previously, this was not a problem. I use RemoteMaster to set up all the functions and used the "External Functions" tab to add the TV codes to my PVR layout. My old TV had a factory programed setup code and this was not a problem. Now, I bought a new Vizio TV (which doesn't seem to have factory setup codes). I found codes I needed here, and created a layout and setup code for my TV (I made it setup code 0002). The problem is now when I try to add "External Function" codes to my PVR layout, it doesn't seem to understand them. The TV layout works (pretty much anyway), but I cannot get those TV functions to be assigned to buttons in PVR mode. I'm guessing this is because the TV setup code I enter in the "External Functions" tab of RemoteMaster is not a built in code set and its doesn't understand to use the one I created?

How can I get around this problem? Thanks!

You need to install the TV upgrade as well as the PVR upgrade.

I actually do have both upgrades installed. I can still control the TV, but it requires switching to TV mode. The buttons programmed with TV function in the PVR mode don't work though.

You should probably load a copy of your IR file into the Diagnosis Area, then post a link to it here.
