I have a RS 15-134 and have breadboarded the jp1.x discrete transistor interface diagramed here https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=3585 and IR fails to open the jp1.x (jp1.3) when trying a check interface or download from remote.
I've tried all I can think of including rebuilding and checking the built interface but I can't get IR to work and I know for a fact the serial port works. Another thing I don't get is IR doesn't even inquire what serial port the interface is on as it does with the jp1 serial setting. I'm using com1 but everything I've tried is still a no go with IR.
Ok I'm at a loss for ideas

My only guess is that you've done something wrong in your circuitry, but I doubt that anybody will be able to figure out where you went wrong without seeing the device itself.
Your best shot might be to take some hi-res pics and post them.

Thanks for the replies, I've managed to get it working although I don't know how since I built it on the breadboard 3 times and builted it off the same schematic each time.
My current problem, yes I still have one, is the interface works perfect on my desktop but fails when used on my laptop. The symptoms are IR giving me the "fail to open jp1.x" and the remote being stuck in a mode other than normal/operating since the device buttons don't flash and the remote appears dead when trying buttons. When I run a check interface, while connected to the desktop, the remote comes back to life afterwards.
In my short troubleshooting I've found that the collector on Q3 reads about 2.0V when pulled up via DTR going to ~5.8V--all of this observed during a check interface cycle with remote not connected.
