My URC8910 died tonight. I have all programed files on archive. I also have a serial interface cable that worked great—all was wonderful until...
What is the best bang for the buck replacement for the URC8910 remote that will accept my JP1 cable and archived codes?
Thanks,
Larry

You can still buy 8910's online. 8910's are getting scarce, as are all the remotes that use the JP1 interface. The remotes that are currently available are the JP1.2 and JP1.3 remotes. These remotes don't use the old interface. They use the newer JP1.2 interface.
I think the new RS JP1.3 and the OneForAll JP1.2 remotes are "uninspired" when it comes to design. There is one that looks like the 8910 though, but the case needs to have modifications to allow connection to the computer.
If I were you, I think I'd hunt down a few urc-8910s.
