Can I transfer the data from my URC-8811 to a 8910?

This is the JP1 beginners forum. There's no such thing as a stupid question in here, so post away, but this forum is just for JP1 users and people considering JP1, non-JP1 users please use the appropriate forum above!

Can I transfer the data from my URC-8811 to a 8910?

Post by Septimus »

The right arrow on my 8811 has stopped working, so I have to buy new remote. They don't make the 8811 anymore, so the 8910 is the way to go.

I was just wondering if I can move me settings from the 8811 to the 8910 using JP1?

Thanks.

It depends on what you mean by "setup". If all of your devices use upgrades, then all you have to do is reload those into KM, change the remote name and then copy the upgrades over to the device page of IR. Also, if you need a protocol for this upgrade (it'll show up in the KM front page, then copy that over to the protocol sheet of IR. You can't just use the IR file because the remotes (8811 and 8910) use different CPU's.

Any keymoves not in upgrades will have to be entered by hand into IR. Macros should just work once you've gotten the devices and their mapping to device keys straight.

If you're using any built-in setup codes, then check that these are the same and still work in the 8910.

Hope this helps,
jeff
