Scientific Atlanta UJ3EXP Cable Remote - JP1-able?

Post by ti83programmer »

I have two Scientific Atlanta UJ3EXP cable box remotes and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do with them JP1-wise.

They look very close to the Scientific Atlanta Explorer cable box remotes that have an RDF and limited support, but these do not have JP1 pins, nor a header.

I can't figure out how to get it open without scratching it all to pieces, but after reading some other threads, I was wondering if there were some tricky hardware things to do to these to make them JP1-able.

Unfortunately I think those are like the UR4 remotes. Made by URC Inc down Mexico way. If they are then they are not jp1 capable.

The cable company here went with those cheep duds as well. My wife made me get one of the ur4 remotes charter here is using now. So if we turn in the cable box for whatever reason she can keep the jp1 remote that came with our box. And just give them the UR4 with it.

Yeah, that's probably what it is. They both came from Charter.

Thanks for replying, though.
