At the moment, I'm using an unmodified URC-6131 to control my MythTV machine (Linux-based PVR) using the VCR code 0081.
The 6131 is a decent remote, but I'm liking the look of the URC-10820, it looks more "sexy" to me than the 6131. I'd probably never use half of the functions of it, but it looks kinda nice. As to why not the 6131n? Well, the buttons on the 10820 look to be spaced a bit further apart, which is nice.
Anyway, part of using the 6131 involves mapping EFCs to some buttons that VCR code 0081 doesn't program by default. Keymover is documented in the manual for the 10820, but EFCs aren't (but, to be fair, EFCs weren't documented in the 6131 manual either).
Can anybody with a 10820 confirm that EFC functionality is present? I guess it uses five-digit codes instead of the three-digit codes, right?
Now, somewhat off-topic (should be in the JP1 forum):
Also, I do know that the URC-10820 is not JP1 compatible, but is instead JP1.2 compatible. Has any work progressed on this? If I get a URC-10820, how could I help out? I'm a software engineer by trade, but I do have some soldering skills, and access to some diagnostic equipment (like a logic analyzer), although I don't know how to use it (but that's what manuals are for).
Thanks,
Joe

Read through THIS THREAD to see what efforts have been made. It's hard to track what is ongoing, but perhaps you can figure out where the JP 1.2 effort stands and help progress a it a bit.JoeVulture wrote:Now, somewhat off-topic (should be in the JP1 forum):

Re: URC-10820, Keymover and EFCs
AFAIK, the 10820 and the 6131n use the exact same casing, so I think the button spacing is equal. (Edmund's the expert on these new remotes, so he'll correct me if I'm wrong).JoeVulture wrote:As to why not the 6131n? Rob the 10820 is a much wider remote, as you can see;

the remote on the right is the 8820, it is in the same casing as the 6131n.
