New Yamaha RAV350 remote problems
I am having some problems with my new Yamaha RAV350 remote that came with my HTR-5890 receiver. I have previous experience coding a RS-2117 and had no problems but now the new remote won't connect to IR. I tried my old 2117 and it works fine on both IR 3.21 and 6.15, but the 350 isn't detected by either. The 350 has the pin numbers on the JP-1 connector, but I tried reversing it just in case and I tried with and without batteries. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time.

When you say "isn't detected", do you mean that you are able to download the data from the remote, but IR.exe doesn't know which remote it is? If so, that's not surprising because I've never heard of this remote either. You should post the IR download file in the Diagnosis Area and I'll try to create a starter RDF for you.
If you mean that IR is not able to communicate with the remote at all, take a look at the 6-pin connector, if it says JP1.1 or JP1.2, this remote is not compatible with JP1.

It is not able to communicate at all. I tried to look at the remote to find out what version of JP1 it is using, but it is covered by part of the remote housing and I don't have an allen wrench that is small enough to take the cover off (hopefully have that fixed tomorrow.) I sent an e-mail to Yamaha tech support to see if they could tell me and give me some other information on the remote because the literature on it is lacking to say the least. Thanks for you patience and willingness to help.

Their tech support is unlikely to know the answer, and even if they did know, they'd be unlikely to tell you anything. Keep in mind that the 6-pin JP1 connector is not a "supported" feature, what we're doing here is "hacking".
