There is at least one remote available for the iPod (Ten Technology's
naviPod Wireless Remote for iPod w/Dock Connector).
Does anyone know if it uses standard-type IR protocols? I'd get one if I knew I could create a JP1 file. If it uses some non-standard protocol (it only has 5 functions) then I wouldn't be interested.
Anyone know?
anybody tried the iPod remote yet?

Even if the protocol is non standard, we could probably put one together for you quite easily.

Navipod upgrade available
I've created an upgrade for the Navipod iPod remote. Besides the five basic functions (Play, FF, RW, Vol+, Vol-), I've also implemented the following "hidden" iPod functions found in the Mega List at www.mastertheaterbuilders.com. I've mapped the extra features to keys as follows:
Next Chapter - Up Arrow
Previous Chapter - Down Arrow
Next Playlist - Right Arrow
Previous Playlist - Left Arrow
Pause - Pause (Discrete)
Play/Resume - Enter (Discrete)
OFF - Power
On - Record
Repeat - Last (Toggles repeat mode)
Shuffle - Swap (Toggles shuffle mode)
Stop - Stop (Discrete)
Mute - Mute
All of these functions work on the series 4 iPods. Only the five basic commands work on a series 3 iPod, even after upgrading the iPod to the latest SW (v2.3). I'm using a 15-2117 with the RF link to control the iPod from other rooms and it's working well. (I've modified this paragraph to correct some errors in my original post)
