Problem loading an upgrade

Post by jchi18 »

Hello, newbie here....

I am trying to upload the device an upgrade to my RS 15-1994 using the instructons named, "JP1 - Just how easy is it?". I loaded the device code (tried both replayTV and replayTV-5000) for replaytv 5040 into KM. After moving a few buttons (5 max), I tried to add it to IR's device's tab (using IR600) by highlighting, copying and pasting. After that, I try to upload to the remote. The red light blinks twice (on screen) and once I remove the cable the red light (on remote) blinks twice. I then test it out but none of the buttons work.

Can someone explain what I am doing incorrectly? I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Did you select the 1994 as the remote in IR before loading the upgrades into IR?

The best way to start the process is to:

1) Do a download from the remote into IR. This way you know for sure the correct remote is selected.
2) Save that configuration so you can go back to it if you have to
3) With IR opened do the copy of the upgrade from KM or RM to IR. Make sure the upgrade that you are using in KM or RM is set for the same remote as IR
4) Then upload to the remote from IR

You should get 2 blinks on the remote. You may get 2 more when you remove the cable but that should be OK

I did everything that you noted. Can you think of anything else?

Sounds like you forgot to install the protocol upgrade along with the device upgrade.

Great...where do I find information on that...I didn't come across the "protocol" upgrade in my readings so far.

In JP1 - Just How Easy Is It?, it is briefly mentioned between Images 7 and 8. Here's the text:
If KM displays a protocol upgrade (in the area marked with a blue circle in Image 4) you will also need to copy this over to IR. You can use the button in the upper left hand corner or you can use the manual ‘copy' function. Then in IR you will need to go to the Protocols tab. Click the ‘Add' button and then paste the protocol code into the pop-up window. The Protocol Id field will be populated automatically.

The protocol will be in the box below the box that had the device upgrade in KM. You copy it into the protocol tab in IR

If that does not work upload the device upgrade and the IR file that you created in the new diagnostics file area and post a link to them here so we can get a look at it.
