What's the real data for the VCR+ command? ie, which protocol, device code and OBC?rickspindrift wrote:How's this for strange - both the Mute ON and the Mute OFF commands are interepreted by my VCR (a Sony SLV-696HF) as a VCR+ command. Fortunately, that's a toggle, so sending each command twice will work. Still you'd think Sony would be more careful, wouldn't you?

When you use the original Sony remote, does it have the same effect? Here's an updated version of the protocol with the lead-out times corrected, see if this makes a difference...

No difference. If I switch the VCR over to Command Mode 2, though, that stops it. I guess I can redo the device upgrade I made for the VCR for Command Mode 2, though the workaround of sending the Mute discretes twice seems to be doing the job.
If you're asking does the same thing happen with the original receiver remote, I don't know. I don't have the original, though I should have it in a few days. The person I bought the receiver from (through ebay) didn't send the remote with the receiver, but she said she mailed it last Friday so hopefully I'll have it tomorrow.

Switching to Command Mode 2 (VCR2) was easy enough. Just a matter of changing the device codes to 7 and 185. Everything else was the same. That makes everything work, though it doesn't explain why the Mute discretes are being mistaken for VCR+ by the receiver.
I don't know if the receiver OEM remote does the discrete mutes, but if it does I'll let you know if it has the same trouble with the VCR as soon as I get it.
