Displayer 7100 Problems

Post by gsyates »

I have been trying to get my 8110 working with my Dishplayer 7100. I downloaded the Dish_7200-KM.txt upgrade. I figured it should work with the 7100 as well. I load it into KM then paste into IR and download. The result is that keys work, but they are all scrambled (left arrow is 3, select is 1, 1 is power, etc.) I learned a few of the keys and checked them in IR. The protocol (Dishplayer), Device (3), and OBC values match those in IR and the upgrade file. I did searches, but didn't find this particular problem. Being new to JP1 I am now at a loss as to the cause of this problem. Any sage advise from the gurus out there.

Using:
IR V5.09
KM V8.25
RDF files V1.17

Sounds like what happens when you forget to change the remote model type in KM before transfering the upgrade from KM to IR.

Just a guess, but I bet you forgot to change the Remote in KM to match the remote you want to use.

My remote is a 8810 and I have URC-881X/801X/601X select as the remote in both KM and IR. That is the same remote model I used for my 721 upgrade and it is working fine. Any other ideas?

I guess it's time to see your saved .IR file. Post it to the Diagnosis Area and then post a link to it here. Make sure you read the posts about how to create links to Yahoo files.

Here is my IR file. All I did was select New in IR, select URC-881x as the remote, loaded the Dish_7200-KM.txt file in KM, made sure it was set to URC-881x, copied the device upgrade code to IR, set the CBL device button to VCR/DVD code number 2004, and downloaded to the remote. When I try to use the remote the keys are all scrambled.

Does any one know if the Dishplayer 7100 really does uses the same IR codes as the Dishplayer 7200?

We will when you learn a few commands from the OEM remote and see what IR decodes them as. If it's Dishplayer Network then it doesn't; if its Dishplayer then yes.

Also, did you use setup code SAT/0775 or SAT/1005? If it's 1005, then yes; if it's 775, No.

As I said in my original post I have already learned some codes from the OEM remote. IR says they are the Dishplayer protocol and the codes match what is in the Dish_7200-KM.txt upgrade file for the same buttons. And yes code 1005 does work. I guess what I meant to ask is could the 7200 have used the same codes as the 7100 but on different buttons. But the more I think about it that doesn't make an sense either. Anyway, everything seems to indicate this should work just fine. But I am still at a loss as to why the buttons end up scrambled.

OK, I figured it out. KM is not set up correctly to do Dishplayer. It uses a 6-bit function or OBC and UEIC remotes always use 8-bit bytes and read from the left. To fix it multiply all the OBC's by four. Also you can download the latest Rmote Master and load in the KM file and it will work without multiplying. You can also load in this device upgrade directly into your 8811:

Upgrade code 0 = 1f d4 (VCR/2004) Dish 7200
0f 0c 38 dc fa e1 18
80 3c 08 78 c0 70 90 0c 7c 60 40 84 68 c8 00 2c
94 1c
End
