Pace Satelite box

Post by CraigH »

Hi

I have 3 OFA URC7800's that control various local equipment in rooms and via IR extenders control other gear.

I want to copy common learned codes between them. One shared device is a Pace Satelite box and it shows in learned signals as using 3 Nokia protocols per entry with different device and sub device numbers.

I was going to try the spreadsheet method but could not see how to enter all the codes that are showing in the learned section (did not have enough spots)

Is there an easy way to just copy the learned items between remote configurations...help please

Post your file saved in IR to the diagnosis area in the JP1 Yahoo group. That way we can see what is being decoded.

Once you do that, read the sticky post on posting links to the Yahoo grop files and post a link so we can find it.

You might also look in the files and see if there is an upgrade for the Pace satellite box and see if it works.

Hi Jon

I have posted the file in the diagnosis section.

It is called Family Room Remote V2.IR

The codes I would like to make into a device are learned on the TV device.

Here is the link..
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... te%20V2.IR

Have already looked for a file with no luck so far.

Was able to build a few other new devixes last night with success, just this one has left me in need of help.

Hope you can give some direction

This is a slightly different protocol with 32 data bits rather than "Nokia" which is 24. For the regulars, the protocol is {36k,msb}<164,-276|164,-445|164,-614|164,-783>(412,276,D:8,S:8,U:8,F:8,164,^100m)+

It is apparently confusing the decoder. Here is what I manually decoded:
D --S----U---F
33 160 38 88 up
33 160 38 89 dn
33 160 38 90 left
33 160 38 90 right
33 160 38 32 c+
33 160 38 33 c-
33 160 38 130 exit
33 160 38 88 sel
33 160 38 136 prog/guide

Craig, it looks like you learned the same code to both Left and Right.

Rob and John, have you seen this before? How hard is it to modify Nokia aka Nokia Quad to add another byte of fixed data?

Thanks Jon

Does that mean I wont be able to create a device upgrade for this protocol till the spreadsheet and ir are updated ??

Or is it possible to do a manual load into the spreadsheet.

Unless there is a 32 bit version of the Nokia protocol somewhere, we need to modify a version of the Nokia protocol. If Rob, John or the other assembly language geniuses don't have time to modify Nokia, I can probably create a kludged version using Protocol Builder that will work, but normally we try to create a protocol that reflects the correct device and OBC. This way the decoder and protocol will use the same data.

Hi Jon

Thanks for the update.

I will re-learn the entire remote set as a start and leave then as learned buttons for now, if I have enough memory.

Hope the language guys can sort it out, but if they cabt your offer of a Kludged device fille would be appreciated.

As for left and right being the same, thats strange as they both perform as expexted.

Once i re-Learn them again I will see if they look different.

The device is a Pace DS-420 Satelite box onsold by Foxtel Digital in Australia.

Guys

I just found the code in another thread. Looks like you have already done the work for a similar Pace cable box.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files ... ecodes.zip

I have reworked it for my 7800's and all seems to work like a charm.

Will post revised files after some more testing

Thanks muchly

I once told John Fine that he had forgotten more than I knew about decoding IR protocols. He replied, that he had forgooten more than he knew. Now I really understand, since I had forgotten that I had already put together a kludged version of that Protocol.

Let me know, if you need any further help. There is a spreadsheet that i think was included that will actually decode the commands for you and convert to the kludged protocol.
