Paste from IR.EXE into RM or KM?

Hi,

I have a remote that I previously programmed to behave as desired. I now want to use that programming as the basis for re-programming. Unfortunately I can't find an RM or KM file from which I built it.

I can read the remote with IR. Is there a way to "paste" the key definitions from IR into RM ...

I find the use of two programs (KM and IR) to be confusing. It takes me awhile to get "up to speed" every time I work on my remotes (only every year or so). I was just hoping to find something a little easier to use. For now I'm using RM with IR.

Thanks for your reply.

Cordially,

Eric

OK. My converter is the $35 one from DIYGadget. I gather that's not one that's supported? I tried manully setting every option that shows in RM, and none worked, so I'm assuming not. I downloaded the latest diygadget driver as well.

I do have an old Parallel adapter that I made a few years ago, if ...

No USB, correct?

Hi,

Just confirming that the IR functionality in RM doesn't support USB connections, correct? Mine works fine in IR, but reports "remotes not found" in RM.

Cordially,

Thanks for the reply, Liz. I don't follow you. Why would "Play / Power" be better for "Off" than just using the Power button?

While clever, this technique doesn't work as well as hoped. The problem is that the DVD player ignores other commands once the Open/Close has been pressed. It insists on actually opening the drawer before taking another command.

In the end, I think I'll use the open/close as a discrete on. I ...

Oh boy. I opened the base station, and the part involved is a tiny "surface mount" part. I don't know if you even can use a regular soldering iron on this baby. So a few questions:

1. What sort of iron would you use to remove a tiny surface mount resistor? (I may or may not even attempt this).

2 ...

Sorry I wasn't clear. By "blaster" I meant the "base station" for the 15-2117. It receives an RF signal and puts out an IR signal.

It behaves the same way when the 15-2117 is in another room. Which is normally how I use it -- the gear is located in a closet!

If I unplug the base station and point ...

Interesting. I'm doing the same research/testing for a Liteon DVD player/recorder. How likely is it that it also uses multiple "code sets" (for lack of a better word)?

What I found is that the blaster (from my wireless 15-2117) is indeed confusing (not killing) the IR sensor on this device. I had thought this wasn't true, but apparently turning the blaster to face away from the devices wasn't enough. I had to power it completely off.

Unplugging the "blaster ...

p.s. I did discover that the Open/Close function will power the unit on if it is not currently on, but never powers the unit off. So this could be used as a "discrete on" as long as you don't mind the DVD drawer opening when you power on. EFC 164.

Which [setup code]?
The one you mentioned below:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=4137
It works fine, it just lacks discrete on/off codes.
By the way, I created that file.

Thanks Rob. Your reply caused me to test again. What I found is that the "base station" of my 15-2117 is "blinding" the sensor on this unit. When I unplug that base station and point the remote directly at the unit, it works fine. I had started another thread on this "blinding" -- I'll post again ...

First off, that's an incredibly time consuming way to test all 256 EFCs, a much easier way would be to create dummy upgrades that have the EFCs assigned to buttons, then load the codes and test the buttons.

So I should do this test using RM (or KM), instead of just in IR?
