Hmm, I wonder what youtube uses its keywords for. I did change the title to JP1 Remote Control Programming an Extender Overview per your suggestion. Hopefully google will pick that up later today.
I just did a search on youtube using "jp1 programming". Your extender tutorial shows up now.

Oh Pooh..

I thought we did put an outline together and that I had committed to doing one of these, in writing! I really must quit drinking! So I've been working like crazy to get this done prior to leaving for FL.

I chose extenders as my topic (of course). I'm a little miffed that ...

Hi mdavej,

I'll check those options out after I receive my JP1.3 cable.

Thank you very much for the tips,

I checked out the Lookup Tool and it contains a lot of data. I'm analyzing the data using the info you provided to learn how to use the Lookup Tool.

Look at your remote while using 0490. See how when you press the transport buttons the DVR or DVD LED lights up? And when you press a number button, the Cable LED lights up? You need to change the behavior of the Channel Lock . Don't use the printed instructions that come with the remote--they're ...

RCRP05BR code needed for Panasonic Bluray player DMP-BDT220

Received the RCA RCRP05BR that I ordered. While I'm waiting for the USB to TTL cable to arrive, I thought it would be best to get the RCA remote to operate all of my devices via manual programming.

Any suggestions for the best code to use for:

- 2 ...

But this post lists a limitation of RM-IR and I remember reading where Vickyg2003 said she prefers IR instead of RM-IR (don't remember why.)

Wow, Raptor88, you have been studying. Both RMIR and IR are GREAT tools.
I like IR better, but RMIR has come a long way. RMIR has come a long way, but it ...

But I read elsewhere where Vickyg2003 recommended to save the contents of a remote by using raw, as a normal save could lose data or something like that
Actually Raptor, I was talking about doing a raw download from a remote with an "immature rdf" At the time I wrote that new cable remotes were ...

It's not a limitation. It's a safety feature that IR lacks. Maybe it's too safe, in this case. But that prohibition is there by design.

Us old timers perfer IR for some things, but it's no longer being developed, and RMIR has many more features, so may as well learn it and get used to it. RMIR is ...

Opening the ir file in ir.exe I am able to add a macro bound to shift-dvr. Like you suggested, it changes the value from $42 to $C2. Not sure why I can't do this in rmir.exe. No big deal though.

You can answer this question yourself by starting up RMIR and looking at each menu item. Hint: look at the menu item Remote.
I'll install RMIR and have a look.

The RCRP05B will emerge from its packaging with the contents of memory the same as if the remote had just undergone a 981 reset. Remotes ...

Saving the original contents of a remote 100% correctly.

I ordered a RCA RCRP05BR and a USB to TTL cable (which I'll convert to a 2x3 JP1.3 connector). I plan to use RM-IR and follow the steps in "JP1 - Just how easy is it?".

But I read elsewhere where Vickyg2003 recommended to save the contents of a remote by using raw, as a normal save could lose data ...

Here's a thread with more details on the various purchased USB to serial interfaces .

The JP1.3 connector in the RCRP05b, like other JP1.3 remotes, has the following pinout.

1 +3.3 (If you have a USB to serial cable that puts out 5 volts, I recommend to leave this disconnected. It isn't necessary ...

Some definitions: The remote PCB has 6 pins . The cable contains 6 wires . The end of each wire has a contact attached. Tommy's document under Swapping Connectors describes moving the contacts from one housing to the other.

So the contact insertion side is the wire side.

Thanks 3FG.
