Dish NETWORK DVR.

I'm trying to help a friend determine if the remote that came with it is JP1.

I've never heard of any Dish Network remotes being manufactured by UEIC, so I suspect it is NOT JP1-able. I suspect your best bet is to open it up and take a look (look for a 6-pin connector, look at the PCB and see if it has an EEPROM or space for one). A possibly easier way to deduce whether or not it is a UEIC remote might be to look at the list of Device codes in the manual, and see if they match known UEIC device codes (or perhaps follow a pattern with a fixed offset, like some other OEM UEIC remotes do)

Edit: Although looking at the codes in the owner's manual, I would bet against this remote being a UEIC remote (and hence not a JP1 remote)

AFAIK Dish manufactures their own hardware, including remotes; so I highly doubt that the remote is JP1 compatible.
