Aifa 6 in 1 universal remote AFP-44

If you have learned signals that don't get decoded when you look at them in IR.exe, post your file to the Diagnosis Area then post your question here (including a link to the file).

Aifa 6 in 1 universal remote AFP-44

Post by Ex-Navy »

I have this remote with a diagram of all the hex code mapping for each
button.
How do I find out what protocol it is using. It says Sony VCR code
protocol.

Thanks

Most of the information you need is here:
http://www.hifi-remote.com/sony/Sony_vcr.htm

But "Sony VCR code" isn't quite enough to tell you which device numbers you need (as explained on that site I linked). Maybe the "hex codes" you have contain device info as well as command info, or maybe something you didn't quote answers that, or maybe you would need to experiment (there are just a few possibilities).

Are you trying to program this universal remote, or did this remote come with one of your devices and you're looking to program a JP1 remote to work that device?

I got a couple emails about this with attached files. I got that on a computer, I was about to leave, so I took only a quick glance then forwarded the email to where I am now. But it didn't arrive.

One file described a Sony signal with 8 function bits and no device bits. That would Decode as Sony8 protocol. But I don't think Sony8 is ever used stand alone that way, and I don't think we have any JP1 executor for it. Sony8 is normally used as a portion within the Sony Control-A1 protocol.

If I remember correctly from a quick glance, the other file described a Sony signal with 8 function bits and 4 device bits. That would Decode as Sony12 protocol. But Sony12, as we understand it, has 7 function bits and 5 device bits. If I read that document right the signals would correspond to Sony12 device 2 for functions 00 through 7F and to Sony12 device 3 for functions 80 through FF.

It would also help if you answered Rob's question and more generally told us what you're trying to do and what tools (JP1 remote? JP1 Learning remote? Original remote? etc.) you have available.

Also, rather than sending relevant files to individual members by email, you should post them in the Diagnosis Area (and post links to them here) so we can all take a look.

Files are PDF

Post by Ex-Navy »

I am trying to get this device to work with a JP1 remote and also my
slingbox.
The files that I emailed are PDF files, I don't know how you can post here.

The product is the Neuros OSD, www.neurosaudio.com

It comes with a remote, made by Aifa in Taiwan. It looks like it uses
the Sony12 protocol.
The pdf files I have contain the key mapping (hex codes).

I was going to purchase the Ir probe and download the Digitrace to
find out.
If the pdf files can help, I am able to email to anyone.

Bin file

Post by Ex-Navy »

So, I am wondering if the default code used on this remote is 064 to control the OSD, and it is Sony 12 protocol plus I have the hex mapping of each button on the remote, can I create a bin file using remote master.
Then save that bin file in the SBAV folder for Slingbox to upload.

That would be cool!!

Go to the file section (link at the top of this page), and navigate over to the diagnosis area. At the top of the page amongst the various buttons is one labeled upload. Use it.

I took a closer look at that. I didn't notice anything in the description of the signals that is inconsistent with what we call Sony12.

The meanings of individual bits (near the top of the page labeled "page 6 of 6", which is page 7 of 11 in the pdf file) is totally different from our understanding of Sony12. But that actually makes it easier to put the hex data into RemoteMaster.

1) On the setup sheet in RM, select Sony 12/15 protocol. Put a 2 in "Device 1" and a 3 in "Device 2".

2) On the functions sheet in RM fill in the "Hex" column with the key codes from page "5 of 6" in that PDF. I hope you know which of "Default Key Code" or "Optional Key Code" you want, because I have no clue.

Otherwise, follow the generic Slingbox instructions with the same adjustments (for getting info from an unusual source) as those I just described in another thread:

All that work

Post by Ex-Navy »

Well, half a days work revealed little.

It turns out that after mapping all the Neuros OSD hex codes through the RM
and into the proper Slingbox remote, that the Neuros does not use a power
button on their remote.
So, when trying to change the bin file in Slingplayer, it will not read a
accept a bin file without a power button configured.
If you try to do a dummy one, Slingplayer uses this dummy code as the test power button in their config.
