Hello there, this is the first time I've ever messed with JP1 stuff. I own a URC-8910 with the sole purpose of buying this remote is to teach my Universal Remote RF10 discrete on/off commands. I don't have a JP1 cable at this time so I have to use wav to upgrade/program the remote. I have downloaded the ir program, the rdf files (as far as I can tell), Remote Master and anything else I could find on the site. I haven't configured the extender stuff yet. These are my components:
Pioneer VSX-816-K Receiver
Toshiba SD-3990 DVD Player
Sylvania DVD/VCR Combo
Cheapo Magnavox SD tv
I use a workaround for discrete on/off for the DVD player (play & play+off), the Sylvania and Magnavox I'm sure won't accept discretes, and I'll get rid of those anyways, so all I have to figure out is the Pioneer Receiver. I loaded an upgrade to a Pioneer 1016 receiver into Remote Master, used 0013 for the setup code and then chose the numbers 1 for "Power On" and 2 for "Power Off." I copied the codes into IR and then exported it to a .wav. I've played the .wav file and the 8910 says it is complete and has accepted it. For a few seconds before the lcd display turns off, it shows the 0013 code correctly for the Pioneer receiver on the remote. Once I hit a button to turn the display back on, it has gone back to the previous setup code 1023 and the discrete buttons I programmed will not work. I'm a newb here but any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

First off, you don't need to worry about the extenders if you're not actually going to use the URC-8910 as your remote.
From your description, it sounds like you've loaded a protocol that's incorrect for this remote, so that when you press a button and activate the protocol, it's causing the remote to reset. When you loaded the Pioneer upgrade into RM, did you change the selected remote to the URC-8910? Did the upgrade ask you to copy a protocol and if so, did you do so?
The best way for us to see what you did would be if we could see both your RM file and your IR file.

When you loaded the upgrade into IR did you remember to set the appropriate device button to match the device type/setup code of the upgrade (IR's General tab)?hodedofome wrote:For a few seconds before the lcd display turns off, it shows the 0013 code correctly for the Pioneer receiver on the remote. If there already is a built in device code AUD/0013 for Pioneer, can't you just enter in the advanced codes (via keymove) for discrete on and off and not even bother with the wav file? According the the master Pioneer upgrade file, the OBC for discrete on is 26 and discrete off is 27, which would make the EFC (advanced codes) 247 and 251, respectively, for the device code 0013.
If you don't know how to enter advanced codes, read this page on this website, under "LCD Remote Instructions (Current models)":

On the General tab I have Receiver/Amp for Device Button, Rcvr for Type and 0013 for Code. Is that what you're asking?Mark Pierson wrote:When you loaded the upgrade into IR did you remember to set the appropriate device button to match the device type/setup code of the upgrade (IR's General tab)?
As for the other question, my remote will not accept advanced device code 0013 manually, so that's why I'm trying this with JP1.

*********UPDATE***********
Got it figured out, I wasn't copying the upgrade protocol code into IR. Once I did that it accepted the 0013 advanced code. It did not like the 247 and 251 discrete codes, however, and liked 208 and 204 that came with the upgrade file instead. It is now working correctly. Thanks for all the help.
