Looking for small LCD screen (for car)

Post by Mark Pierson »

I'm looking for a small, low cost LCD display with a 4 to 7 inch screen to use in a vehicle application. I've googled and ebay'd my fingers off but can't find anything but high-end big $$$ items, or chincy Chinese imports. All I want is a small display, similar to those dual-screen mobile DVD players. Surely there must be a source? What am I missing? :?

Something like this?

I have a portable DVD player with a bad laser that I use as a monitor for a remote PC because it has an A/V input jack.

I suspect that there won't be any name brand units. Even major companies rebadge that type of product. I wouldn't be surprised if the high dollar exotic displays use the same Chinese internals.
Just call me Zaphod (or Steve) --- I never should have started using numbers in a screen name but I just can't stop now.

Yeah... that's a start. Thanks for the tip.
an A/V input jack.
That's all I'm basically looking for. Oh, and the ability to do a reverse image (for a backup camera) would be nice, too.

That's what I'm beginning to think. I did a little more searching on eBay and found some "cheap" monitors, but they want $50-$100 for shipping from China or Hong Kong!
