Basic custom setup for ofa 9800

Post by turk »

I now have a ofa 9910 and a ofa 9800. I have successfully upgraded the 9910 with the 1377 device code. I would like to add this to the 9800 but there isn't enough memory. Is there a fairly simple way to develop a custom upgrade for the 9800 that would include only about 15 keys that would fit in the 9800 memory? Could I use the hex data from the 1377 upgrade to develop this?
The 9800 seems to have a better RF function than the 9910 (more powerful)

Please upload the files (KM and IR) that you are using and provide links. I can't tell what you're doing, because when I change the 1377 file from your previous thread to the 9800, I get no protocol upgrade possible for the manual settings protocol required, so I'm surprised that you have ANY upgrade calculated at all, much less a large one.

I suspect you will need an expert to create the manual settings protocol for your 9800, which uses a different processor than the 9910.

9800-1377

Post by turk »

I have not even tried to load this code into the 9800. I was told that there was not enough memory in this unit for it.
I am using the same KM file as listed in the previous post but don't know enough about the protocol info to understand what is required.
I have read that learned signals can be used to develop a custom upgrade so thought that the info from the 1377 upgrade could be used to skip a step.

It's not a question of the URC-9800 having enough memory, the problem is that the URC-9800 uses a different processor to most other JP1 remotes, and this processor cannot handle large protocol upgrades.

AFAIK, this particular protocol can only be used with remotes like the URC-9800 when it's built into the ROM, which is obviously not the case here.

So what you are saying is there isn't a simple way to get these codes into the 9800? Is there any way? I would really like to use this remote.

Extender

Post by turk »

I noticed that there is an extender for the URC 9800. It says with it you can move any key. Does this include the learned keys?
Hate to beat this subject to death but still trying to use this remote.

You'll have to read the extender documentation to find your answers. I don't recall who wrote that extender, but he's probably not around anymore to answer questions and there's very little knowledge on this familiy of remotes among the rest of the experts here.

At some point you're just gonna have to accept the fact that it's time to get a newer remote! :(
