Hi all,
I am sure there is an easy answer to this, but I have read all stickies and am still not 100% sure... Anyway, here goes:
If the device upgrade is made for the particular JP1 remote (example: there is an upgrade in the file section for Digital STB TEAC DVB300, that is made for URC7560 remote), but I want to use it with the different JP1 remote (in my case, with URC8811), is it just a simple matter of changing the device from dropdown box in Keymap master AFTER you loaded the TXT upgrade file into KM? Or is there anything else required?
Thanks, and excuse the ignorance... I am pretty sure the answer is somewhere in the tutorials, but it must be buried deep, as I haven't spotted it at the first scan.
Regards,

Open the file, change the selected remote, and check/edit the button assignments to your liking and you should be good to go!digital_silence wrote:is it just a simple matter of changing the device from dropdown box in Keymap master AFTER you loaded the TXT upgrade file into KM?

Mark's answer may be clear enough. But in more detail:
1) LOAD the upgrade.
2) Change the selected remote.
3) Click the Buttons tab at the bottom to switch to the buttons sheet.
4) Review and probably change the decisions about which functions go on which buttons.
5) Switch back to the setup sheet to save your work and to copy the device upgrade and maybe protocol upgrade to IR.exe
You should always review button assignments when starting with someone else's upgrade, because you may have a different opinion about which functions go on which buttons.
But it is even more important to review button assignments after changing the selected remote, because each remote has its own set of buttons and the automatic translation (from 7560 buttons to 8811 buttons in your example) is unlikely to make the best use of the 8811 buttons, even if the original upgrade used the 7560 buttons exactly the way you would want.
