samsung dvd hd 941 discrete code for power on/off?

Post by kuapao »

1. Device: samsung dvd hd 941
2. Type of device: dvd
3. Year: 2004
4. JP1 Remote model: URC-9960
5. JP1 user? yes
6. Still have original remote? yes, but does not have button for discrete on and off
7. Checked the file section? yes, but none list discrete codes for power on and off
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? yes, but none list discrete codes for power on and off
9. Partially working setup code? everything working except discrete on/off
10. Learning remote question? no

This dvd player has been advertized as having discrete IR codes. I would hope that includes power on and off! If I am wrong, please let me know. Thank you.

If there are no discrete ON/OFF functions in any of the files you have found/examined, perhaps you can see if one of the standard workarounds works.

For some DVD players, pressing Play will power it up. In that case, a macro cpnsisting of Play-Stop is a discrete ON, whilst a macro of Play-Power is a discrete OFF.

Alternatively, if OPEN/CLOSE powers it up, the OPEN/CLOSE-OPEN/CLOSE is a Discrete ON, whilst OPEN/CLOSE-POWER is a Discrete OFF.

More alternatively, you may have to use the ToadTog special protocol - requiring use of the extender.

will try the standard workaround

Thank you for the reply, Capn Trips. I will try the standard workaround. Since the URC-9960 does not have customizable lcd and my needs are fairly straightforward (power on and off sequences depending on what video and audio inputs I select), it does not seem worth it to use the extender and ToadTog.
